Hi Everyone: I was hoping to get some feedback on answering questions on exams. Is there a certain method? I can narrow my answers down to the last two questions that "seem" like they both apply to the question - but it appears I pick the wrong one. Is there a method of breaking the answers down to get the right one. I should always look for the ABCD answer, then safety is there anything else I'm missing besides narrowing down the absolute terms. Not sure why I tend to pick the wrong ones. Thanks for any help you can offer. Laurie

Hey Everyone: Well my big day has arrived and I'm overwhelmed with all of the material to read and sort through. I can't seem to get a handle of the "best" way to organize all of this to make it helpful to study. Does anyone know a method that would be helpful to organize ALL of the reading and is it safe to follow and learn the only the objectives for each reading assignment. In other words is there a "pattern" I should be looking for interms of studying the material? Any help would be so appreciated. I think once I have it all organized and a specific system I will feel much better. Thanks so much for your suggestions. Laurie

Hi Everyone: I will be a first year nursing student and we have been thinking about relocating to AZ after I have finished. Of course...I have been researching everything. What exactly is valley fever? I have read it is spores that burrow into your lungs. Longterm affects? Causing death? Is it common? My husband thinks I'm being paranoid...am I? Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Laurie

Thanks - I can only hope not a two hour commute. He is actually a business analyst and is interviewing w/an investment firm. I am just entering my first yr of nursing school and cannot give up my slot to move just yet. Maybe after I have the first year under my belt I can then make the move. I will have to inquire about transferring etc.. Thank you for your input. Laurie

Hi Folks: I have been reading all the threads and want to thank you for such great info. I hope you don't mind if I join in. My husband will be going to AZ for a few job interviews weekend of 8/24/06. I will be starting nursing school in the fall here on the cape. He commutes to and from Boston every day and sits in traffic several times a week for 2 hours or more. I commute into Boston to work and work hours from 12:30pm - 10:00pm (research coordinator). I work these hours so not to hit traffic going in and out of the city but also to get cheaper parking at $8. If I work the normal hours I would be hit w/$30 a day.(crazy!!) I have to drive because I have two small children and have to access of getting home right away should something happen. Is there anyone on this thread from Boston who could tell me if the traffic in Pheonix gets as bad as Boston? He most likely will work in Pheonix and was curious about the commute. I have heard about 45 mins each way to and from Gilbert. Does that sound right? We are looking around Gilbert or Fountain Hills area? Are there any other family communities you could recommend? Also - he will be heading out before us as I have to finish at least one year of nursing school before I can transfer out there (God willing). Although I know it is not the best time for me to relocate, but I think if I can tough it out for a year it will be worth it in the long run. Thank God, I have a lot of family support! Hi There! Chemistry was not my favorite either but I do think it will help you understand some terminology w/fluid and electrolyte balances etc. Also dimensional analysis (the dreaded moles) will be very helpful if you take pharm calculations (the set-up anyway). Honestly, if you have gotten through micro you will definately do fine w/chemistry. I think with chemistry - you have to think "out of the box." Good luck to you. L

Hello Everyone: I have a question. How does it work in obtaining a license if I'm relocating from the state of MA to AZ? I don't think MA is a compact state. Do I need to retake boards or just apply for a license. Thank you for any information you provide. Laurie

Hi Everyone: Can you explain to me a little more about the compact license. I live in Mass and it is not a compact state. I'm in a very tricky situation at the moment. I have been accepted to nursing school here in Mass which I will be starting in the fall, but my husband has prospective jobs lined up in Arizona. I have been reading about the wait list in AZ as it is in Mass too. If I stay back in Mass and obtain my license (hopefully) and relocate in two years to AZ how do I go about obtaining my AZ license? Hey Andy - I found A&P II to be very interesting. I think the best advice I can give you is to stay on top of your veins and arteries. You will also be going into the endocrine system in great detail (well..at least we did) and it is so important to make sure you have an understanding of the hormones and how they work..before you know it - it all will tie in together. I personally think A&PII is more of an understanding rather than memorization like A&P I. Either way.... it is very interesting and it all comes together at the end. As far as micro goes.....I think I might take a little time in between before nursing school - but hey, if you're in study mode...it might work best for you. Either way... good luck to you! L :)

Hello: Is there much of a difference between these books (various publishers)? I will be entering nursing school in the fall and have been told to start looking at the nclex books now so to get used to the questions etc.. also have been told to get a "really" good care plan book. I'm assuming I will be hearing about these books in school (?)..... Thanks for any info you can share with me in order to prepare for the fall. Be well!
