EXIT HESI- Who is getting ready to start preparing!?

Thought I would start this so we can share ideas and thoughts on the HESI.

What do you have to make? Do you need this monster before you can graduate? What books are you using? If you have taken the HESI, your words of wisdom and encouragement are welcome! :-)

I graduate in May and I have to pass the HESI with an 850 to sit for boards. I don't have to pass to graduate. I plan on using the HESI NCLEX Comprehensive book which should arrive tomorrow. I heard the tips in that book are invaluable and its a must! I am also going to use Saunders for additional questions and reading material. I also have the HURST Review Series which my cousin used to study for her HESI. She said that it was a great tool!! Anyway, I plan on doing questions everyday when I can until May. I haven't started just yet...but I have to admit I'm a little scared. That is why I am going to prepare as much as I can in advance.

I am 100% confident we will all pass this stupid test!! :-)

All you really need is the Saunder's book and cd. Practice at least 100 questions a week and be sure to read the rationales.

HESI really isn't that scary.

I'm right there with you but I have to pass to graduate w/an 850. Scared to death but I have faith I will pass in time to graduate! Good luck!

We take a HESI at the end of EACH semester for evaluation. It is content specific. We used to have to take ERI which were horrible but I have found the HESI to be much much better. The saunders questions have appeared in the HESI's we've taken.

Good luck and breathe they are not bad. (scored over a 1000 on each section so far and they are very clear)

Thanks!! We will be fine I am sure :-)

We have to take HESI in March, just as a way to figure out our weak areas, and to improve before we have to take the NCLEX.

We also take a practice test in January and then the real thing is in May. We will see how I do here in a few weeks!

At my school we have to take a prenursing HESI in order to be accepted into the program with a score of 80 or better. Then once in the program we have to take the HESI after the first year and again after the second, before graduation. We are required to take it and anyone that scores below 850 meets with one of the faculty to go over their weak areas BUT passing the test holds no bearing on our status in the program. They say it is just to help everyone. They don't make a big deal out of it, told us not to study or anything. We have over 100 people in our program and everyone passed with at least an 850. I don't mean this is a mean way but our class is not filled with a bunch of geniuses to say the least. I think the test is pretty easy but trips up alot of people in other programs because of the high stakes that are put on it (pass or your out) by the schools. So people study and study for the HESI and their nerves get the best of them. This is just my opinion of course, based off what some of my friends that attend or have attended schools that require you to pass the HESI tell me.

I say to trust what your school has taught you, and just take the test. Good Luck!

And dont forget to pray it always seems to wk especially if u have done ur part n that is to study!!!
