Nurses Uniform/Gear

12 hour shifts! OMG!! All that walking, standing, and sometimes running! I've had Crocs, Regular tennis shoes, Merrell running shoes... the list goes on!!! But what is the BEST nursing shoes to have out there? I've heard nurses talk about "Dancecoes". They look so uncomfortable... Hmm... What are your thoughts?? Experiences??

Footprints.com lets you try shoes out for a while, and they carry Berks and Dansko for sure. I think also Algeria (Alegria? can't remember). Great company and really good trial policy.

I am so glad that you shared this link! I just ordered some Sanitas from here. Can't wait to try them!!

Well I couldn't afford danskos at the moment and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on each pair, so I just tried Anywear Zone shoes which are really comfortable and good priced! I got them based on the really good reviews and the fact that they sell a lot of pairs. I have to admit one of the best choices I made. I Still plan on getting danskos in the future though.

You can also get Sanitas 2nds at clogoutlet.com they're 50-75$

I heard mixed reviews about SAS shoes. I'm looking for all white shoes for school this fall. I am deciding between

~SAS

~Akesso Helia

~Brooks Addiction

~Birkenstock Alpro G500

~Birkenstock London

Anyone have the shoes that I mentioned above? :yeah:

Dansko's are an absolute MUST. I have a narrow foot - but beware buying the narrow sizes if you plan to wear compression socks too (I also think these are an absolute must too). I wear the compression sock, then a short gym sock over it. Then my dansko's. Even after 12 (sometimes 13!) hours, my legs feel great, no foot pain whatsoever.

I wear the Brooks Addiction. I have narrow, flat feet, and I am tall. Tried the Sanita's, did not like how they fit. Too loose, too heavy, too high for me. The Brooks Addiction come in narrow, lace-up so I can get an exact fit, and are well-padded, with great arch support. I have tried New Balance, and Saucony, with no success. After working 12 hours on a busy med-surg floor I may be tired but my feet never hurt!

I am looking in to purchasing a pair of Dansko's, I hear they are a little pricey, but definitely worth the money. I currently work in a doctor's office, but I will be starting my night shifts in the hospital within the next 2 weeks so I am concerned about the most comfortable shoes to wear.

My favorite are Klogs. The have the support if the danskos with a lot more cushion. I haven't had any feet fatigue after getting these. I have been wearing them for 3 years.

Ok, I went and bought my first pair of Danskos today , but now that I'm home, I feel like they're pretty tight . Is it just me 2nd guessing myself after paying $108 (after a 20% discount)??? I have little feet and got the smallest size (35), because the 36's flopped up and down on my foot. The 35's fit snug. My heel's against the back, but not too tightly, and my toes have room to wiggle. Where it feels tight is where the top of the shoe fits against the top of my foot....I don't like the idea of having to take these back and return to the "perfect shoe hunt" again. :banghead:

Also, I noticed that they say "Made in China"....I read elsewhere that they used to be made in Italy....Any difference?

Thanks!

You should have movement in the back. I think you maybe should consider going up a size. They are a clog and should move.

The instep (where you say it is right) will stretch.

I've had them on for about an hour and my feet do move up and down a little when I walk. I'm not sure about the "flip-floppy" feeling. I like to feel like my shoes are fit securely on my feet. Like I said in my post, the next size up had quite the gap behind my heel and flip-flopped freely.

I just bought some Danskos today too. They do flip-flop but I was informed this is how they are supposed to fit. It allows for your feet to swell as they can do after a 12 hr shift. Haha. So far I love them. I just think it is going to take some getting used to.
