Nurses Uniform/Gear

I guess the title says it all. Which shoes are the most comfortable for those 12 hour shifts?

My favorite brand of athletic shoes are Ryka's. They are designed for a woman's foot unlike Nike's that just take a man's foot and shrink the size for women. We have smaller feet but with a higher arch typically and a smaller hell. These shoes fit me like a glove and I hate to work out in anything else. I just was wondering if anyone might wear these while working? I'm about to start nursing school and want to find a pair suitable for clinicals. Anyone have any suggestions? I want a pair that's easy to clean and an all-white pair that is truly all-white.

I heard that the sketchers shape-up are the most comfortable shoes, it takes the pain away, eventhough they're expensive, its worth it. I would also go for the nike shox, they are mad comfortable.

I went to REI and bought a $100 pair of low top hiking shoes(sneaker type) and it ended 90% of my tired feet problems. The only other thing I had to do was buy some expensive lite weight hiking socks and I now don't even think about my feet no matter how busy I get. I am suprised at how much of a difference good quality socks can make. Every 3 months I go to CVS drug store and pay $13 for a new set of inserts. I wish I had known this back in school. My advice is not to buy "nursing shoes". go to an outdoors store and buy shoes that are made for walking 20 miles a day outdoors. I went through alot of so called nursing shoes before I figured this one out.

I looked online and cannot find any all-white Keen shoes. Where do you get them? What specific style name do they have? Thanks a bunch!

So far I like the Nursemates Quark Pro-Air II. Super cushy, small vent for circulation, washable "croc like foam", full heel and toe and all white.

I agree that it depends on your foot, but for me it's Crocs. I used to buy expensive sneakers and then have a friend of mine who is a pedorthist make me a set of orthotics, but with the Crocs I don't need that. They are reasonably priced, and comfy for a 12 hour shift. They can be disinfected. And, most importantly, they fit my very hard to fit feet.

REI is a store that sells outdoor clothing and equipment - they sell backpacking, cycling, climbing, camping equip. and much more. Look for them online to find merchandise or to look for a store near you.
