When to submit letters of reference?

A few questions:

#1) Should i include my 3 letters of reference along with resume and cover letter, when i apply to a facility,

or,

just bring them to interview?

#2) If a facility has an online "apply here" thing, as well as the mailing address, --------i should only apply online, or, is a paper form (either snail mail, or hand-delivered) better? I should NOT do both, right?

okay, i guess that's all my questions so far. THANK YOU to anyone who shares their knowledge with me. Thank you.

Good evening, Jean,

I have always had sound success with sending the cover letter and resume initially and under the "Reference" portion of my resume putting "References available upon request."

When I attend the interview, I always bring several more copies of my resume (printed on resume paper, of course), and my references printed in triplicate and neatly placed in three separate envelopes so, when they request them, I can present them to the three people that are generally always involved: HR, Department Lead, Department Manager.

Also, in regards to your last question, I have always done both. Yes, I suppose that does generate more work for an HR person in some regard, but I look at it as making darn sure my correspondence was received.

Others may have different thoughts and bits of success, but thus far, it has worked well for me.

Best wishes,

Probably a dumb question, but what is resume paper? I've been printing on regular ole 8.5"x11" paper and serving them up in manilla folders. I guess I know the error in my ways now!

Do you just use the folders with the circle and string?

Resume paper can be found at Walmart as well the standard office supply stores and is a heavier card stock with a watermark. Be sure that when you use resume paper, the print of the resume is oriented the same as the lettering of the watermark. Resume paper is considered old school by some but sets your resume apart and demonstrates an attention to detail. There are matching envelopes that I use for my resume and cover letter. Hope that helps. :) Regards, ~~CP~~

Only bring references and letters of recommendation to interviews. I have a page typed up with professional and personal references and their contact info and give that, with additional hard copies of my resume, to every interview.

THANK YOU ALL for help!! Very much appreciate it!!
