Nurses Job Hunt

I can't get it under 2 pages long! I could if I cut out clinical spots. That takes up the most space.

I also eliminated past work history simply because it was not healthcare and I've had more healthcare.

Basically, I have

Objective

Certs (I have quite a few)

Jobs

Education

Clinicals

Activities/Groups

Letters for recommendation are "extra" pages. They told me to submit them this way, probably so they don't get lost.

I haven't fleshed out my jobs yet so that may make it a full 2 pages.

Is that too long? The thing that really kills it is the clinical locations.

I've been having the same struggle. Most of the advice I've been getting my nursing school advisor is to NOT include clinical experience, because every nursing student has similar clinicals and you can mention clinical experience in an interview. However, if you're applying for certain jobs (peds, OB, psych) you could include certain clinical experience under the "Experience" category. Tailor you resume and what's included to the job you're applying for.

It killed me to delete all of my clinical experience, but it saved a ton of room! Hope this helps :)

I would cut out the clinical experience on the one you turn in. If you happened to have a clinical rotation at the hospital you are applying to, mention it in your cover letter.

If called for an interview, bring a copy of the resume with the clinicals listed, just in case they are curious where you did your rotations. Some places don't care, won't even ask for it. But it's better to have it on hand than not!
