Thank you. Order: 35 mg of a medication by mouthtid

Patient weight: 99 pounds

Safe dose range: 2 to 4 mg/kg/day

This is a safe medication order.

I converted 99 pounds to kg which came out to 45 kg. Then I used dimensional analysis 35mg/1 * kg/day / 2mg and I am not sure what to do after that.

Specializes in NICU.

Patient weighs 45kg

Safe range is 2-4 mg/kg/day

2mg * 45kg= ?

Also: How much of the med was given in a day?

Specializes in OMFS, Dentistry.

35mg TID = 105mg total... 2-4mg /kg/day ...... Pt weighs 99lbs or 45kg

2mg*45kg = 90mg

4mg*45kg = 180mg

Is 105mg/day ok, when the safe range is between 90mg-180mg?

-hoping I calculated that correctly =/

Thank you. I passed my test with a 90. I am so happy. Now I have to worry about taking this hesi test haha
