Will credits transfer with CCNE vs NLNAC accredited courses?

  1. I am currently researching RN to BSN online programs. Is there a difference between CCNE vs NLNAC accredited programs, as far as, future employers/colleges go? My goal is to pursue Masters in Nsg and want to make sure my degree will be recognized? I would appreciate any input.

I had called my BON as well as the State Dept of Education. They seemed to indicate that CCNE was acceptable. In fact, the Ph.D. nurse answering my question was quite surprised by it. Why not call the Vermont Dept of Education or BON.

Thank you for your effort in answering my question.
The reason that the issue has come up is, I was told by a local Hospital that, my degree would not be recognized, unless it came from a CCNE accredited school.
I have since spoken to local Schools of Nursing and BON and have been told that its basically up to the individual school, whether or not your credits will be accepted, based on the similarities of the particular course.

The local masters program in this area requires a degree from an NLN approved school. You might want to check with the schools that you're considering taking your masters, this may help you decide which school to go to.

    Good luck.

Funny how arbitrary it all is. The masters programs in my area are split 50/50 in whether they prefer NLN or CCNE. As others have said, it depends on the school.
