HELP! DOES ANYONE HAVE INFO (PRO OR CON) ON ISTUDYSMART OR RUE? ICAN'T DECIDE WHICH I WANT TO GO WITH. I KNOW YOU DON'T NEED A PUBLISHER BUT IT SOUNDS EASIER TO GO WITH ONE. ISTUDYSMART IS CHEAPER BUT WITH RUE YOU MAKE PAYMENTS AND THEY INCLUDE ALL COSTS(TESTS,BOOKS, STUDYGUIDE,ETC). I WONDER HOW YOU SCHEDULE A TEST DATE. DO YOU NOTIFY RUE AND TELL THEM WHEN YOU WANT TO TAKE ONE AND THEY HELP OR IS IT ALL LEFT ON MY SHOULDERS? :uhoh3:

I moved your thread over here so maybe you could get your question answered faster.

Oh...and no need for all those caps.

I don't know about RUE specifically; I signed with DLSI. I don't have anything nice to say about DLSI either. I am afraid that of the people I know who went with RUE, not one person that I can think of actually has anything nice to say about them.

Are you absoulutely positive that Rue covers the cost of testing? My cost with DLSI was $275/course which include NOTHING other than their study materials and if you are really lucky a badly beaten, used textbook to supplement.

I my case I am responsible for the testing fees running from approx $70-$300 *per test- NOT all together *, the clinical which is over $1,000, the clinical prep which is another couple hundred bucks, the video and workbook which a'int included, and the fees the Excelsior charges for tuition & etc.

I do pay payments with DLSI through another company. My total cost for DLSI alone was over 4 Grand.

I am also on my own with scheduling test dates. DLSI has nothing to do with that. They ask that I inform them when I will test and of my score when completed. I do not and have no intention of telling them squat other than when they can send me my next set of materials.

Technical support, help with studies, clarification NOT PROVIDED! MAJOR ATTITUDE is included free of charge.

There are many, many people who have used RUE though and they can probably enlighten you further.

:D

Good luck to you and may I suggest you think it over VERY CAREFULLY before you sign up with ANYBODY. Get your stuff straight from EXCELSIOR or buy it secondhand.

Check out Excelsior's website. They'll answer questions you send via email without you being enrolled. Also note that Excelsior DOES NOT endorse any of the publishers; they actually have a warning for their students about using a publisher for materials.

Good luck to you whatever route you decide to take.:clown:

Ohhhhh don't get me started on RUE. :(

I will say this...... RUE's cost covers materials that they make for the EC exams. They make texts and study guides that they think will help the student on the EC exams. That is all they do. They don't write the exams or schedule students to take the exams. They have NOTHING to do with the actual college. They can give people an IDEA of what credits they will need for the program, but it's just an idea, and is no way an actual list of courses a student needs. Many people have found this out the hard way..... RUE tells them they need this, this, and this course, the student signs a contract with RUE agreeing to buy the study materials for those courses, only to find out later from the school that they don't need those courses. The student is still out big bucks, whether they need and use the materials or not. I have heard of this happening way too often.

Plus..... what you pay to RUE ($300+ per study system) does not include the test fee, which is anywhere from the low $100's to the mid $200's a pop, the enrollment/reenrollment/graduation fees, or the fees for the CPNE and/or workshop. You just pay for books that a company makes for people to take the test with.... a company who has absolutely NOTHING to do with making that test.

It's way more expensive to go with a publishing company, and in my opinion, no easier. Please do some research before making any decisions.

I know 2 people who did I Study Smart and were very happy with them. The one gal only did the study guide and she didn't have any problems

Thank you very much for the info. I think I will go with Excelsior and bypass all the others. I sounds like such a waste of money to go with a publisher. I appreciate all the help.
