RN to BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

O.K. so I started my ADN to BSN course today. Actually it starts officially Monday, but there's a module to do before then.

All I can say is WOW! I'm overwhelmed by the amount of work they are expecting full time workers to do. Online chat sessions where we have to be ready with answers to questions, a quiz a week, reading 2 to 5 chapters a week, 500 page papers every week, responding to bulletin board postings (one of which has to be 200 words or more), a power point presentation, and one very large paper, on and on and on. Plus the last couple of weeks my the chemistry class overlaps.

I'm beginning to wonder what I got myself into! Wondering if it will be worth it and how working full time I'm going to do it. My life as I know it is over.

But I have to break it down to one thing at a time and just go with the flow and see how it goes. No one is holding a gun to my head making me do it. It's just the initial shock is a little overwhelming.

Kudos to everyone who is doing it or has done it!

O.K. now that's off my chest I feel better. LOL

How's it going, 3rd shift? I plan to start the RN to BSN online program at FHC this summer, so I'll be interested to hear how this semester goes for you.

Good luck! You sound very motivated.

Good luck to you!!! Got my second week's grades and squeaked by with a "A"!!!! But the important thing is I'm learning, and gaining a much needed boost in my morale for the profression. It hasn't been as bad as I thought, but I haven't written the "big one" yet, nor done the big power point presentation. Nor started Chemistry which is going to overlap with this course, so there rougher roads ahead. LOL

Thanks for asking. :)

hi 3rd shift guy.

What RN-BSN program you in? I am in the one with Excelsior. It is self paced. Just wanted to know what online BSN program had deadlines and scheduled chats.

thanks.

Sorry sockov for taking so long to answer, I've been having some serious ISP problems lately, which has definately put a cramp in my internet courses.

I'm enrolled in the RN to BSN program at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, an NLN accredited program out of Orlando, Florida. There are students all over the country in it. http://www.onlinenursing.fhchs.edu/

The other program I considered was my local college St. Petersburg College who have an online version.

Both these programs pace the on-campus students and have the same deadlines and cirriculum.

I'm disciplined enough to do an online verison, but not disciplined enough to do self-paced. While the work and deadlines are extremely stressful, I'm better off with them than without.

Good luck to you.

hello tweety,

i am a florida night-shift guy myself.... i am starting the florida hospital bsn program in may. am currently taking statisticsthru my local cc, then plan to clep english 2 and western civ then will only have chem to take which i am planning on taking with fhchs. i doubt i get both those cleps out of the way before may, am hoping to get at least english 2. so, it would be nice to maybe have a talk via private email sometime about the program...also curious if you are interesting in selling books such as your chem? i imagine it would get rid of a book you no longer needed and make you/save me some money.

take care,

randy

Randy, I'm not on my computer, but I'll email you. I start Chemistry on Monday, but we have our assignments already and I started marking up my chemistry book...opps. But we can talk. Good luck to you. In May I should be taking Statistics followed by research. Lucky you to get it out of the way. :)
