Nursing Concepts 1

Nursing Students Online Learning

Hello, this is my first time on this site. I wanted to find out about the NC1 exam. I am going through College Network and I am preparing to take the exam at the end of this month. Any advice from you all is beneficial.

Thanks

Nicola

The biggest negative I have heard about the publishing companies like College Network is that they are making money putting out info that can be obtained elsewhere. Suggest you learn how to do a search on this site and you can find a ton of threads on your question with duplicated advice, but you never know when you can find a tip which is esp useful for you. 1) Go to yahoo groups. There are many groups devoted to Excelsior, join some groups, and look in their files, you can find some student notes and tips there.

2) The Excelsior website should be your first line of info. Download the nrsg school catalog and the free study guide for NC1. If you have ?'s feel free to call or email the advisors at the school. 3)Text references are best bought at the discount websites ebay, half.com (can't remember others). Otherwise you can find them or order them at your local Borders or B&N. 4)One person on this site recently stated that he got no refs, just bought Saunders NCLEX review book and kept going over ?s over ea subject area on ea test and passed. Suggest Saunders and other NCLEX prep books, refs from bookstore, as much as you can afford and want. This is how I study. The book is part of your prof library after you have passed the tests. Fluids and electrolytes=a subj that most people have trouble with, so is good candidate for bought ref from bookstore. The Nursing Made Easy series is popular among many.

The best personal advice I can offer is Do Not Procrastinate! Look at your study guide subjects, get a big ol calendar, set up a schedule, and stick to it.

Some people do tests every couple of weeks or so, you can bet they don't procrastinate! Good luck!

Hey there, thank you so much for your honest and straight forward advice. I appreciate all of the refs and websites and other info that you gave me. Also, thanks for keeping it real as far as not procrastinating. I will be definitely looking into getting those NCLEX prep books, like STAT!!!

Thanks again, if you have anymore info that you think would be helpful for me, don't hesitate, please send me a message.

Nic.

Welcome to the site! I moved your thread to the Distance Learning/Independent Study Forum. It's the most common place where you will see the EC NC exams discussed. Good luck to you!
