Next Step after completing my ASN Degree, But I don't have a RN License

    Hello,

I am really stuck and need some advice on how I should further proceed my nursing career. I graduated with a BS in Biology in 2005. In 2008, I attended the 2 year RN program and graduated with my Assoicate degree in nursing in Jan 2010. At my school, we had to take the HESI exit exam before we could take the NCLEX. I failed the HESI 3 times. Unfortunately, life interfere and I haven't taken the test since 2010. I pushed to the back burner. Therefore I never completed the HESI, NCLEX or got my RN license. I recently contacted my school and am waiting to hear back from them to see if I can even still take the HESI exit exam 3 years later. But I would like to consider my other options. Since I don't have my RN, I don't know if the RN to BSN programs apply to me. Is anyone in the same predicament as me or can give me advice.

    Thanks,
    Kim

you will be hard pressed to find an rn to bsn program that doesn't require you to be an rn. what are you trying to do with your nursing career? in other words, I think you have to be one before you can get much further.

Every RN to BSN course I've seen require you to be an RN. They aren't called ADN to BSN. I would also check with your state's BON on the eligibility. My state requires to to pass the NCLEX within 4 years of graduation or you would have to take a refresher course.

Maybe you could continue on into a traditional BSN program. Anything RN is out until there is an actual RN license.
