Master's with no thesis required

Nursing Students Online Learning

Hi, nurses!

I've been searching for quite a while now for schools online to take up a Master's degree in Science (MSN) or Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN). I am looking for one that doesn't require thesis-writi g because it is too tiresome . I've read online that some schools can waive the thesis part in exchange for seminars with research papers or duty hours. Your inputs will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Paula

Sounds like a good option. I take practice over theory any time! had to even get some help from a service when doing my thesis :p I think this is a great option. Go for it!

I'm not sure I would advertise that I cheated/ plagiarized my way to a degree.

Graduate degrees in nursing that have lower standards and requirements than comparable graduate degrees in other disciplines are one of the reasons nursing doesn't get taken seriously as a profession and an academic discipline. Too many people in nursing want the respect but don't want to do the "heavy lifting" that other disciplines and professions do to get that respect.

OP, I'm sure there is some for-profit diploma mill that will accommodate your desire to get a Master's without having to produce the usual amount of research and scholarship associated with a Master's degree.

Actually, very few MSN programs in the Unites States require a thesis anymore. Most programs make it optional or have gotten rid of it altogether.

And ElizabethAnatom: I'd be too embarrassed and ashamed to admit I cheated to get my degree.

Yes, which significantly diminishes the respect people have for the degree, and hurts those of us who did actually work hard for our MSNs. Nowadays, everyone and their dog is getting an MSN, since they're so easy to get. It used to actually mean something. Now there are doctoral programs in nursing that require less effort and scholarship than I (and many others) put into getting an MSN.

And nurses wonder why other academic disciplines don't take us seriously ... :sarcastic:

My school didn't require a thesis. For a while they required an exit exam and then they let us choose between it or a portfolio (a collection of papers done throughout our years with a part we had to write and add).

I also wish there was more standardization and was just sitting here mulling DNP plans (or lack of since I'd want a program that focused on assessment, patho, and pharm more in depth).

Can you tell which schools that offer non-thesis? Feel free to email me: [email protected].

Thanks.
