Getting restless. Feel like rushing.

I'm studying for Reproductive Health, have the exam scheduled for Sept. 11, but I feel like maybe adding another class in for September. I just want this whole part to be over with. I want my RN! I've been trying to pace myself and tackle only one subject at a time, but I've had a hard day at work and would love, love, LOVE to change jobs right now. If I go at the pace I had already set for myself, it could be 9 or 10 months, maybe more before I get my RN license. What do you all think? Is it doable to take two exams at a time, in other words, study for 2 exams per month? Recommended? I've received excellent grades so far, so maybe? I just want to move on.

Anything's always possible. I believe it is truly an individualistic situation. Only you will know if you have the studies down when you get towards the testing date. It just seems to be a lot of knowledge to have to grasp. You can always set the test dates and then change one of them if you realize you're not quite ready for that one.

It's definitely an individual situation.. I got a little over confident last year and ended up failing a test.. It messed with my head so bad, it took me 7 months before I gained the courage to test again.. and the only reason I tested again was because my testing date was going to expire.. But, that's me :) I believe if I wouldn't have had that failure, I would've been done long ago..

Give it a shot..I took my first test in Feb, second in March, third and fourth in April...got restless, and took the last 3 very close together in May..you know what? I did fine. Like the above posters said its definetly an individual thing but you never know unless you try. If your not terrified of failing one I say go for it, you may surprise yourself. And if you do fail, dont feel bad! Its absolutely no reflection on your ability, just may not be the pace for you, Good Luck!

As you can see there were a couple of months where I took more than one exam -- I did two in July, three in September (but none in August -- we were on vacation for part of the month, and I was studying a lot for the three in September). My test schedule was aggressive, but I spent nearly every spare moment studying. Even on the drive back from our vacation to New England, I was listening to the audio guide for NC7 (which put my husband right to sleep, LOL). I spent more time waiting for my CPNE (November 2007 to June 2008) than I did taking the nursing exams! And yes, I went a little out of order with 4-7-5, but I just felt like doing that. No real reason.

So yes, you can do it, but everyone is different -- if you have a lot of commitments (spouse, kids, etc.) it becomes more difficult. I volunteer as a paramedic one night a week and work 3 12-hour-shifts a week, which essentially gave me four days to study each week, but we have no kids, and my husband was very supportive (and so glad to have me back when I was done with the CPNE, LOL) and understood that all my free time was going to be about studying.

The great thing about EC is that you really can tailor it to your lifestyle. However, for procrastinators, that isn't always the best thing! I can procrastinate with the best of 'em, but I kept myself motivated by scheduling my exams three or four weeks out, then studying up to my deadline. After more than a decade as a designer/desktop publisher in a deadline-driven industry, that's what worked for me and kept my nose in the books. :)

Ok, thanks everyone. I think I'll add another test at the end of September and see how it goes. Thank goodness we can make changes if we need to!

Dont rush breath :) you will be fine

I finished the exams in just under 3 months and there were 2 times that I scheduled 2 tests in the same day. I had a GPA of 3.8 , started excelsior in January and had my RN license in November. I was highly motivated to finish and testing came easy to me so it was a breeze mostly. But everyone is different in their learning/testing styles. Good luck!
