Excelsior BSN students - HAPE or NUR 442?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Just received an email from EC that they are discontinuing the in-person HAPE exam and going strictly to the online course. It said that the HAPE will be offered two more times (12/06 and 3/07 I think).

Anyone with any experiences or advice related to which route is best?

Well Eric,

Sorry none of us can really help you on this. I'm jealous that you have such a delima. :yelclap: I will be glad when I have this delima or one similar.

Hang in there! It will be here before you know it. :)

eric, I just finished the cpne at excelsior.. waiting for graduation and then nclex.. i was thinking of enrolling in the excelsior BSN... did they discontinue the HAPE in lieu of online class? That's what I'm hoping for.. prefer not to go thru the stress of another cpne-like event.. Bill

Anything where you don't have to waste months waiting for an appointment, take a plane trip, get a hotel room, pay for on-ground transportation, and go through hell trying to convince someone that you know your stuff, sounds all right to me. Excelsior gets accused of not offering a clinical component to their program anyway, so maybe they could restructure the CPNE to make it less of a program completion deal breaker. JMT.

Yes they did, although you'll find that there is still a portion of the WebCT course where you will be required to videotape a physical assessment and send it in.

Submitting a videotaped health assessment sounds 1000% better than having to go thruough the wait and inconvenience and costs of attending another CPNE style exam... besides it's a lot less stressful... thanks for the info!

i think i have ask you this before but i forgot...lol getting old. are the classes for the bsn program at ec online. the way i understand it is there is some online and some you test out of. do you think in the future they will be all online?

I think the BSN courses are a combination of testing out and online courses. A long time ago, they were almost all testing out, like the ASN. They have changed their BSN curriculum more than they've changed their ASN curriculum. Eric could probably tell you, or you can look in the catalog online.
