Nursing Students Online Learning

I will be graduating from a VOCATIONAL LPN program in August 2008 and will be sitting for the boards in October next year. I have a BA already but getting into a nursing school in NYC is extremely difficult and have decided to go with Excelsior ASAP. I lack science courses but have most of the general ed. credits for Excelsior. Can anyone recommend what exams to take from August 2008? I don't want to waste any time whatsoever. I'm so upset that Excelsior will not accept my vocational LPN A&P credits.

ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

How do you know Excelsior won't take your A&P? They generally take EVERYTHING.

Calm down and focus, right now, on the LPN. As soon as you nail the NCLEX you can enroll in Excelsior. And you will.

:)

Well their site states that take they don't take vocational credits but Suesquatch, you are so right I have to focus on this LPN course right now. I'm just so excited with everything and really want to become an RN right away.

One step at a time.

Vocational credits means, I think, something different to you than is being used on the site. Are you getting college credits from a two year school?

:)

No I'm not. I'm attending a vocational school. I will not be getting college credits, which is somewhat of a backstep for me but it was the only option. After getting the associates from Excelsior getting the MSN through them may be an option. I just read on their site today that a Masters degree can be obtained from them if you have a bachelors in another field. This news really excites me now because I had no intention of getting a BSN. However, if I can use my BA to get the MSN, then why not? My main concern though was trying to see what I could do from August to October 2008. I left my job to go to nursing school and DH is very supportive, but I feel that I should do as much as I can with Excelsior as soon as possible. I always believe two incomes are better than one.

You can get started with Excelsior very quickly, but must have a license before you can actually enroll. Call them next April.

As to A&P - they waived it for me. I have Bio and Micro, no A&P. So don't start projecting. My advisor was wonderful - she said to me, "You have a lot of knowledge, now you need a degree."

If you have a Bachelor's plus a license they will work with you to move you through quickly. They really are great.
