OK guys...first, I know I dont need to get ahead of myself (Still gotta get past that CPNE) but after reading some threads last night I started thinking about graduation. My CPNE date is Apr 30-May 2nd in Milwaukee (SO EXCITED!) and April 30 is the cut-off to graduate in June. So I call to my BON...they need graduation documents to apply for licensure (of course). THEN I call EC and I realize...crap...the preceptorship that AZ requires is part of the degree requirements. They have to be done before considered for graduation. As she explained it...they wont get notification of me passing my CPNE for about a week and itll take another week or so to set up my preceptorship. Therefore, I now wont be graduating until at LEAST July 16th. Im leaving mid-July for a month-long vacation back home (Virginia). I REALLY wanted to test before going back home (and be able to have bragging rights that Im FINALLY an RN)...Im thinking this wont be possible now...Kinda bummed about it, but what can I do....Just needed to vent...Thanks...

Seems unfair after all you will have been through! Hang in there!

You'll go home excited about being a GN, and preparing for NCLEX! The only other option I see is trying to get an earlier CPNE date.

Right now, I think my date will give me the perfect amount of time to prepare. If I feel ready sooner Ill put in for a cancellation date. I agree with you Lisa, Ill just use that time to prepare. I just wish I could go home an RN, not a GN...ya know. Just the thought...itll come with time though.

My CPNE date was October 30-Nov.1st. The cutoff CPNE date for graduating December 18th was October 30th. The next graduation date was January 15th. But when Excelsior sent me my graduation info, they stated I was eligible for degree conferral on December 18th. So it'll probably be the same situation with you, if you have all of your degree requirements met, you'll most likely be graduating in June.

And congrats on your CPNE date in Milwaukee, the CEs, CA, and the nursing staff was all great!

Same thing happened with me as above poster... I did my CPNE and passed in October... but I still had Micro to do... which I just did last week. According to the parameters I was going to be graduating in April. But when it showed up on myEC, it showed a March date. When I had asked them in the past, they said if they are not too busy or dont have too many other graduation applicants above you, they may be able to process you earlier. So you may get lucky, though it's not a guarantee. Excelsior is pretty quick with things.
