Wanting to become a nurse with two charges

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi there guys,

Being a nurse has always been my dream. In my background I have two charges . One a felony and another a misdemeanor . I pled no contest as advised my PD. Well I know you have to be able to pass a background check. I am going through a speed screening process to see if I can get the charges reduced or thrown away . If they cannot be, is there a link to the CA board of nursing with the limitations that exclude me from getting a license or in which they will deny me . I saw a post about one for Arizona . I just want to know if its possible. I tried calling the CA board of nurses . Or do I drive down to Sacremento and just go down there. Help or past experiences would be awesome ~

I am a nurse that has a criminal history. I was able to get licensed but I had to jump through many many hoops. It depends on the nature of the charge.

What were the charges for specifically?

one was aiding and embedding or accessory after the fact (felony )and the second is a misdemeanor child endangerment .... had a child with me while I drove my car and some idiots away ..... bad timing and horrible people. It was five years ago. I am now sober and had upstanding behavior on probation. I am meeting with a junior lawyer next month for a free record clearance program offered through the state school . I get my RAP sheet and they help me. I can also provide character references and show proof of volunteer hours .

Let me know if theres anything else I should be doing . From what I read the charges do not deter me from my ability to perform the qualified duties as a nurse ! Do you have any other resources for me and I live in california btw ! Thanks !!
