"passed nclex but..."

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hello.

I am very worried about the letter i received in the mail today. I took my nclex december 30 of 2010 and got the good popup all the way through. Today I received the following letter:

"You have passed the examination for licensure as a vocational nurse (NCLEX/PN). However, the processing of your license application will be delayed until the Board has completed an evaluation of your conviction records. Upon completion of this evaluation, you will be notified of the status of your applicaiton for licensure. If you have anu questions, you may contact ****, Enforcement Analyst; at *******"

Is a letter that everyone receives after taking the NCLEX or is this something I should be very worried about. I tried calling but its Saturday today. I am so worried right now.

A piece of advice for you burst, do not worry yourself over nothing. Is normal for BON to take such step. Before you know it, they will mail your License. All the best!!

I'm interested in hearing if others with only speeding tickets under 20 mph in excess of the speed limit on their record get delayed also.

I had a speeding ticket under 20 mph. In my state I didn't even have to declare it to the BON: they specifically stated on the application that I can exclude any traffic violations except for DUI convictions.

Lucky you Meriwhen. In my application it specifically stated to list all infractions over $300, including misdemeanors.

Quick update:

I will fill in some missing information to help understand the context of my story better. When I submitted my paper for the boards, I included a copy of my speeding ticket and checked off that I had a previous conviction since the BON defined 'convictions' as any ticket over $300. My speeding ticket was $312.00 . What I failed to include was a copy of a receipt, showing a resolution. I did not know i had to include a copy of a receipt! An instructor later informed me that this looks to the BON as if I had included a copy of a ticket which I had not paid.

This morning I called BON, and was directed to the Enforcement department where they handle these matters. An agent informed me that although he could not comment on the specifics of my case, he advised I stop by the court and get an official copy of my proof of payment and mail it back to BON. The Enforcement Agent assigned to my case had taken a leave of absence and was not returning my calls...all calls went straight to voicemail.

This afternoon I drove to the courthouse and paid $50 for two official copies of my receipt. As I was getting ready to leave the courthouse It occurred to me that maybe I should try calling the Enforcement Agent assigned to my case. What do you know? Someone answered. It was my agent but the agent on the phone informed me that she was in charge of my case and that she had already made a decision.

She informed me that it would not be necessary to submit these documents as she had already made a decision on my case and had in fact, mailed out a 'final letter' to me today indicating the status of my application. She told me she could not comment on what the status was over the phone either (I ve been told that this is normal as they never tell you results over the phone).

So here I am. I am spending this evening wondering what is on that letter. Did the agent close my case and decide there was nothing to my record other than 1 speeding ticket? Or did she decide that my application was incomplete because i didn't include a resolution to that ticket?

I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for your support

Wow, what a story! And congratulations to you!

I'm not sure I understand why the BON should have an issue with just a speeding ticket. Makes no sense to me!

I am so glad to hear you received your licence in a timely manor. I also received this same letter yesterday, and much like you it was for a speeding ticket. I disclosed the tickets to the Ca BON with copies of the receipts from the courts.

It seems that it took less that a week after getting that letter am I correct or did it take much longer?

i had a criminal record/s that were sealed and the other expunged, these are no longer public records according to the law and i have a clean background now. my question is when my license is issued, will i have stipulations? i understand their decisions are done by case to case basis. any insight on this? thank you!

to be honest, the best answer for that question is your state's bon since they are the ones who will issue the license...and they really are done on a case-by-case basis. unfortunately, some state bons (such as mine, ca) require that you include convictions even if they were expunged from your record.

call or drop your bon an anonymous e-mail and ask them. they may not be able to say "yes, license" or "no, no license" without seeing all of your evidence but you could get some guidance to get started.

best of luck.
