Can you become a nurse with a criminal record?

I recently was arrested in south carolina for false info to a police officer. It is a misdemeanor but I was told you can't become a nurse with a criminal background. I'm 20 years old and was using someone else's id to drink and that's how this came about. Very stupid I know, but I really don't want it to ruin my dream. I'm also not allowed to complete pti.

It's not completely impossible, but you'd need to be on your best behavior from here on out and put a good block of time between you and this offense. "Youthful indiscretions", where no one is harmed, are more likely to be forgiven than other types of crimes. I have no first-hand experience, so that's just from what I've observed. Hopefully others with more specific knowledge will come along.

The only people who can give you an accurate answer is the BON of the state where you intend to get your license. Anecdotal stories from other nurses from different states is essentially meaningless. They might not count it, then again they might.
