Another criminal background question :) Violent Felony

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi All!

A friend of mine would love to go to school for nursing, but does have a felony from 5 years ago on her record. I wondered if someone might be able to tell me the possible chances of board approval, should she decide to go to school.

Her felony is for Menacing. Vague details: In Colorado, when she was 19, she threatened to hurt a boyfriend with a knife and threw a candlestick at him.

I understand that it is done on a case-by-case basis, but I wondered if the details of the conviction might help us get closer to an answer. Is there any way to know how this will affect her chances? Does anyone know if there are some states that might be more forgiving than others? She has been contacting individual BON's but waiting to hear back from many. I was hoping in the meantime that some of you all might have some ideas? This is her absolute dream.

Thank you for your time!
