Nurses Job Hunt

Not asking for help, just a vent to my AN fellow new grads and job seekers...Applied for a new grad RN position at my first choice hospital. Wrote an essay, got multiple letters of recommendation. Was called for an interview. Drove over 2 hours each way. Interviewed with HR, nurse manager, and panel of peers. I thought the interviews went well. They even sent me for a pre-employment drug screen. Got the call a week later, "we like you, you're great, BUT we decided to go with someone with 5 years of experience." FOR A GN position?...If they are hiring people with years of experience into new grad positions then I pretty much have zero chance at getting a job there with my less than one year of LPN experience. Guess I will continue to apply elsewhere. Just really disappointed, this was an awesome job at an awesome facility, and I thought I had it. Oh well, their loss :PBack to square one....perseverance will get me where I need to be, eventually.

The Job Search today is very frustrating, mind-boggling, and depressing. Keep plugging away at apps and interviews. Remain confident, and positive. Many are in the same boat, so no that you are not alone. Today's job climate is in the favor of the employer.

I am sorry. I can feel the disappointment. That is just crazy.

Today was a day where I laughed at myself over my growing frustration with this job market. I felt like doing the frustrated punch dancing scene from Footloose with Kevin Bacon. I just have to laugh and keep plugging away at this point...

My friend just got accepted into a new grad program; she is the only one, out of 6, who is a new grad. A different girl I know also applied to the program and I was the one she cried on the phone to when she found out 5/6 of the people accepted were nurses with a few years experience. I switch from days I feel really confident about getting a job to days where I doubt if I even want to be a nurse anymore. Good luck with your search!

Remain confident, and positive.

This is what helping me get by everyday. This job hunt is becoming stressful.Almost feels like one can just give up and pursue something else. But we worked so hard to get where we are. Also with this economy, what else can one pursue and be guaranteed a job.

Got offered a position this morning on the spot during a phone interview with another hospital. Staying confident and positive was key. Good luck to all those still looking. :)

Ugh, I hear ya! I applied to 4 new grad positions here, hoping one pans out!
