Dear Ms. Last Name

I would like to express my interest in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit nursing position posted on the *Name of Hospital*'s career website.

Working on a telemetry unit as a nursing technician and graduate nurse helped me gain insight into the role of a nurse on a progressive care unit with a cardiac subspecialty. I learned about the importance of timely intervention, careful monitoring, and education in managing patients with cardiac disease. My current nursing unit (note: not telemetry) provided a strong foundation in clinical skills, time management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Working on the Progressive Care Unit will be an excellent opportunity to enhance and expand my nursing knowledge and gain more experience in my preferred specialty. Cardiac nursing has been an interest of mine since nursing school. *Name of Hospital* is magnet facility that offers many opportunities and ways to get involved. Its high level, quality care has been nationally recognized. The Heart Center at *Name of Hospital* is constantly utilizing new technologies to improve patient outcomes. I want to work for a unit and medical center that is at the cutting edge of patient care.

I am very interested in continuing my nursing career at the *Name of Hospital*. You may reach me by phone at ###-###-#### or by email at *[email protected]*.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

I think, I would mention right off the top your experience.

I have been in many interviews and I know they go right to your experience. I would phrase somewhere in the beginning "I am an RN for x years. I have x years of acute experience in xyz unit for x long."
