The correct answer to the dreaded "What is your weakness" interview question...

What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing how to answer the common job interview question about weaknesses. Some suggest being honest about areas for improvement, such as difficulty with delegation or setting boundaries, while others caution against saying you have no weaknesses. The consensus is to provide a genuine weakness and show awareness of self-improvement.

I have a couple of interviews scheduled, and I need some advice. When I'm asked about my greatest weakness, what are your thoughts on something like this:

Quote

"I genuinely care about the well-being of my patients and tend to get attached to them, which I think stems from my experience in an LTC facility."

It's a true statement, I love [most] of my patients, but I don't let that cloud my judgment. Is this an okay answer to the question? Or what ARE some valid answers?

Thanks!

I often say "delegation" and then provide good examples of when I should/could have asked for help from a coworker.  You can't go wrong with that.

Oh, I just read the thread. Someone already said the delegation. Ummm, let me see.

"Sometimes I overextend myself," try that one.

Sometimes I find it difficult to delegate. I like to ensure every job is done thoroughly and without error.  Especially if I do not know the skill level of the person to whom I would have to delegate tasks

Thanks, everyone. I have always heard not to say "I don't have any" to the question, but I like the "things I can improve on" angle. @Ntheboat2, I will be a new grad in May, so I want that answer, but do you think that would make them rethink hiring me since I'm pointing out again that I can't start until May? I also really like the "I don't like to delegate/I like to do things myself" answer as well; although I can't say that I have been able to delegate yet, I have also thought about saying "interviews" as my answer that's a legit weakness? Thanks, everyone!

Thanks everyone!
