Appearance for an Interview -- especially styling tips for hair

I wanted to get some feedback for my outfit for an interview. I am a typical poor student and am not very experienced with getting myself "dressed up," but I am interviewing for my dream job and want to make an exceptional impression.

I purchased a basic, black pants suit from JC penny. It is nothing special but it fits well. I also have a button-up blue, long-sleeve top and a white undershirt to layer underneath (so you don't see my butt crack when I sit down, which inevitably happens in all pants when you are pear shaped ). I am wearing black socks and a pair of black pumps from Target. Also, I am thinking of wearing a pearl necklace I recieved as a gift.

Makeup -- foundation, Mascara, and some shimmery eyeshadow that is a few shades lighter then my skin tone.

My hair is my biggest issue, I have tattoos which will be covered with my clothing, but I have two-toned hair with the bottom layer a natural but different color then the rest of my hair. Would it be okay to put it up with a fancy clip in a bun, or can I tie it back in a low pony tail and still look professional? I'm afraid I don't have a lot of experience with styling my hair, and I want to look professional but in an easy style. Does anyone have any styling tips for hair to look professional in an interview.

I have very short hair, so I don't have any styling tips, but I can say just look as conservative as possible.....think Barbara Bush :), well maybe not that conservative. I don't know how different the layers are you are talking about, but play it down and not up, if that makes sense. You're going for the business professional look and not a night on the town look. I would also avoid the shimmery eyeshadow.

There are other threads on here that have to do with dressing for interviews that you may find helpful. I know a lot of young nurses want to display their individuality and personality, but you will likely be interviewing with someone who is more interested in patient and corporate satisfaction than with you being able to express yourself through style.

You want your resume and skills to stand out, not your hairstyle, so think "librarian" :)

I would suggest a very low heel for the shoes. Something about clicking around in 6 inch pumps doesn't seem professional & even comes off as if you're trying to appear sexy (maybe ok if you're super short and need a lil boost, but even then, I would question it).
