How long after 2nd interview do they let you know if you got job or not? I had my 2nd interview 2.5 weeks ago at my dream job hospital. So far I've not heard anything. Should i give up on them and move on or wait some more. Is there anything I can do in the mean time? I've already sent thank you letters to my interviewers.

You need to follow back. It lets them know that you are interested. Sometimes it takes a while to interview a number of candidates. I will often follow back after one week. See what they say.

After I graduated, I followed called to follow up on one position 3-4 times (it took a few months to get a final response). I eventually got offered the job- but decided on another. It might seem like harassing, but it keeps you fresh in their mind. And if they are not interested, you will find out faster and be able to move on.

Good luck!

What does a follow up email/phone call look like?

Hi my name is __ i'm calling to see if you've made a decision yet? or I'm just calling to say that I'm very interested in working for you at X hospital and I can help you with XY, Z skills to improve patient care, satifvaction?

two questions.

1- Did you send a thank you letter?. This always gives you a reason to follow back. In addition it sets you apart and shows that you were paying attention in your interview (always include something that they said) .

Hi xxx, I'm following back to see if you recieved my thank you note. My name is xxx i interviewed on xxx.

2- Do you have the name of the person who conducted your interview?

Hi xxx, my name is xxx. I interviewed for the xxxposition on xxdate. I am really excited the at the prospect of working on your unit and I wanted to follow back.

Ya the 2nd round of interviews was almost 4 weeks ago so far nothing .I sent thank you letter w/i the first week. I guess write a letter and follow up again.

Don't send a note, you should call. I usually call to follow up about a week or two after the interview.

sigh turns out they really like me but had to hire someone internally as many applied. OK so all that means is that so long as there are internal applicants i dont stand a chance? well that would explain why my interviewers for round 2 didn't seem too enthusiastic.

Sorry you didn't get the position. Not getting the dream job you think you want hurts but I always try to tell myself that the entire experience will better prepare me for the right position for me. Good luck!

Hang in there. I know it is a disappointment but you will find a fit. Keep at it!

Thanks though I wonder am I just wasting my time here in NYC and perhaps time would be better spent looking whe there's less intense competition. I,m soon aging out of the new grad status in 4 months
