Hey everyone,

I just started looking into this sect of nursing. It's a very specialized position, so are there jobs available if I decide to go this route in nursing? Is it true the average salary is 90+k per year? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the NI Forum IcanHealYou,

Yes there are entry level positions available in NI. I'm not sure where you got that 90K figure from. Salaries vary according to geographical area, the role and the experience level. There are several sources that have been posted to this forum about entry level and salary averages do a search using "salary" I know I've posted the HIMSS survey and compensation link on here also.

If you have no previous NI experience you may even initially take a cut in pay. Feel free to utilize this forum to research this specialty!

Welcome!

This is an ever increasing new arena for nurses to explore. If you have already worked with an EMR system, you are way ahead of the game. My first project, I had 12 hours training and thrown in the deep end of the pool! We had a massive go live, more than 300 support staff, and lost half of them after the first day. Mostly due to undertraining, but a few of us stuck it out. I am now a consultant, not certified, yet ;) . I can work when I want, where I want. For me, it's the best of both worlds-nursing AND computers!!! WOOHOO!!! :smokin:

Specializes in Med/Surg <1; Epic Certified <1.

$90K a year? Let me know where I can find that salary range, lol!!

My company is doing a lot of hiring right now....I would imagine the jobs are out there nationwide with the push to EMR over the coming years....
