I am so confused, what will i do?

i have applied last march 2012 for the pre-employment training of SLMC but i was not contacted thereafter, i assumed that i failed the exam and did not bother about my application. last April 24 i received a SMS inviting me for their PGNT that will be starting on May7. I failed to come for the orientation because of some personal reason, but i visited the HR to know if there's still a slot because i was eager to join.. the HR answered me that they no longer have any orientation of the MAy7 batch, next batch will be on june but no guarantee if i will be included... so i went home thinking no chance at all. btw, i am from iloilo and i already have my applications there and will be starting my volunteer service on that same date MAy7. Just this AM i received a SMS from their HR, telling me there is still a slot for the PGNT training (maybe some of those who attended their orientation did not pursue it bcoz of the training fee so there were slots available). I AM SO CONFUSED... will i go there and pursue the training although i only have less than a week preparation or just go home to iloilo and attend my orientation for volunteer service on MAy7?? pls help. :uhoh21:

^Oh I see! I got the wrong info :pJust an update. A friend of mine will be starting/has started already (not sure) with their NSET. I'm not sure which batch she belongs to during their PGNT. But she already underwent PE I think 2 weeks ago :)

^Current NSET Batch are from PGNT Batch 12-03. I might know your friend. :D

Yup! She's from 12-03 :) So you're included in the NSET training as well? Congrats!

hello i hope someone can answer my question, i already received a txt from st lukes bgc for the initial screening on Jan 21 at 8am

1. Can I ask them to endorse me to st lukes QC because that's really my preference and it's nearer from where i live

2. is it ok to declare that im currently employed as a call center agent but willing to leave my job since my priority is my nursing career

3. Is it ok if i will also submit an application in QC? and does someone know. when and what batch is the next in qc? 'cause i believe if i'll get in at bgc, i'll be part of batch 6.

4. lastly, if i get in the program successfully, can i request to be in a later batch (and is there a guarantee that they will still have a next batch because i also dont want to blow up my chances 'cause HELLO? ST. LUKES? hahahaha!

jong5244, hi! IMO, if you prefer to train in SLMC-QC, you should submit your credentials there personally and wait for their feedback. I'm not sure if they are particular with the work history, but I think there's nothing wrong if you indicate that you are still employed with your present company. I'm not also sure if which batch will you be included, what I'm sure of is Batch 13-01 is already full :) Regarding the request for a later batch, I'm again not sure if that will be possible, but I think they will accept lesser applicants (or worse, stop) for the PGNT once they have filled in the vacancies already for QC.

@pjmRN thanks for answering my questions! but i have another!

Is it ok to have an application in QC ('cause I'm planning to submit one right after I'm done with my initial screening on monday) if I have one in BGC already? Would that cause me trouble? I actually went to QC and BGC at the same time but only BGC accepted my application. In QC, they didnt 'cause I dont yet have my physical license and there are more requirements in QC (GWA, ranking etc.)

1. Endorsement from GC to QC is possible but I'm not really sure of the process. The people I know who were successful from being endorsed from GC to QC are those with YEARS of experience in SLMC already. I think it would somehow be unwise to be choosy with regard to the workplace, especially for starters.

2. Declaration of the present work you are doing with all honesty is good. Word of caution though. Do not state bluntly that you are willing to leave your company as soon as you are offered a slot as it shows an attitude of an employee who's willing to job-hop if given with better opportunities. Try to give it a better shade by providing valid reasons why you opted to be on that work where you are now, not simply because you cannot find a nursing job. A sense of perseverance should be emanated in this case.

3. No idea about the next schedule but I've seen many nurses in white lately in some units. I think they're the ones who are being endorsed for deployment and will undergo NSET anytime soon. With this, one might infer that a new batch might be on its way.

4. You've answered your last question yourself. Yes, you are blowing up your chances for asking to be included in a later batch. Not many are privileged to be selected for the program. With much profanity I ask you, how ironic is it for someone to say that his priority is his nursing career when he's got a plan of delaying it for a batch or two?

Hi jong5244! I'd like to answer your last question.

After the orientation and you passed the IQ test, they will give you time to decide before enrolling/paying the training fee. They call more than 50 (up to 100) applicants for orientation. Chances are, these 100 people may all decide to enroll for the program. But they can only accommodate 50 individuals per batch (whoever pays first, gets a slot), they will then offer the others an option to enroll for the next batch. In this case, your concern is possible.

You can delay your training as long as u were called for orientation and passed the IQ test. It's up to you to decide when and what batch you'd like to enroll to.

@dodoy @arbie101

thank you for all your enlightening answers! I'll be taking the IQ exam tomorrow! I hope I can make it through and same for the interview! :)

Please be aware that vacancies are not so abundant as of this moment. Getting included in the program is not an assurance of being hired, as nurses who have successfully completed the program are placed in a pool of applicants who also passed the training previously and were recommended. I've known of people who got into the PGNT, did the NSET but were not recommended.

The best advice that I can give you is to take the opportunity once it's presented to you. Applicants nowadays are more confident that they'll be included in the program just because they already paid the training fee. Mind you that during the orientation, they tell applicants that being in the program is not a sure ticket to employment. I believe that the attitude has changed over the time when applicants were not asked of any payment, hence hard work was the basis of their perseverance.

Best of luck to the applicants!

hi @dodoy I passed the initial screening today in St. Lukes BGC. I will be included in batch 6 that will start on Feb 4.

I also went to SLMC QC after my initial screening in BGC to pass (again) my requirements, and looks like luck is on my side

because Miss *** in the NSO told me that the next PGNT in QC will be on March and she told me that I need to go back before march if I am decided to take the program and she'll give me an endorsement letter and will just pay the initial charge for phase 1.

BUT...she said that there's no guarantee of being hired after the program because as of right now, NO VACANCIES in QC. They're just accepting applicants for "manpooling." You'll get hired depending on how you performed during the training.

so my dilemma now is what to choose? Is it just the same for QC and BGC? They're just "manpooling?"

I really prefer QC since it's really nearer to me. (Travel to BGC was a really pain in the ass and in the pocket! haha! But I liked the motorcycle ride haha! so cool but expensive-P40.00 :| )

What do you think?? Hmmmn

dodoy, hi! Would you know the percentage of applicants endorsed for NSET from PGNT and those from NSET to probationary period? :)
