I am currently employed at PGH. hmmm... The one who posted this thread might already have the answer to his questions but I would still answer it just the same.

Well, for those of you who are still about to apply at my beloved hospital (wow, with feelings), you can apply because it is on continuous hiring. But, it is for manpower pooling only as of the moment. They would like to empty the thousand of applicants who have finished the panel interview and exam first before starting new batches. When I wrote thousands, I mean THOUSANDS (no kidding). We have our own version of retrogression at PGH. The priority date is 2007 hirees for deployment. The opening in Canada has paved the way to increase the transition rate of PGH employees. Usually our deployment rate is about 10 nurses per batch per month at an average. If there are any questions, please feel free to buzz me (The Singing Bee in combo with The Buzz.. hehe..).

actually i followed up my status there and the secretary showed me the log book,, i was saddened when i saw that those who passed the panel interview last sept 08 still don't schedule for final interview.. i passed the panel int at january 09.. so for now, i think im going to apply to other hospitals..so, just good luck for me..

so the priority date moved back to september 2008.. don't worry many pgh nurses are bound to go to Canada, especially those in the ICUs. I assure you that there will be vacancies soon.

Think you may have the wrong year PD has gone back to 2003 for all but India and that remains at 2001.

However i do think if you are going to look at another country to work that it is done for the right reasons and not just use it as a stepping stone to the US. Going to Canada will not make it any easier unless you gain Canadian citizenship and can use the NAFTA treaty but that will take approx 5 years

I think what they are referring as PD 2008 here is not the PD for immigration but the PD for PGH applicants. As gambutrol stated in his post, PGH is still processing those applicants that applied before September 2008. :typing

Thanks for clarifying this,

Yup, that's true Ma'am. What I was referring to was the priority date for PGH applicants since this thread is all about PGH application. Actually, I just coined the term just to relate it to the retrogression in the USA. This only means that the retrogression in the USA has greatly affected application for local employment. Turnover rate here in PGH (which means the rate of resignation per annum) has decreased drastically.

Hi! new RN here... To whom it may concern...where can i send my resume for initial application? is there an e-mail address or do i better go @ PGH and where? THANKS BROTHERS/SISTERS! :) helllpppppp.....

I'm a new RN too. Yesterday, I visited our dean who was the former directress of nursing service at PGH. According to her, PGH accomodates online applications. Try to look it out at their website. They will send you an e-mail or give a call for the schedule of your interview, exams, etc. But the downside here is, you will have to wait for a very long time before you can start working with them.

I am currently working in pgh and I saw an announcement at the HRDs bulletin board that applications will be entertained at the yahoo groups of PGH applicants. I'm not sure specifically what the name of the yahoo group is. I'll try to confirm the exact name of the yahoo group so you can add it. I do advise walk-in application just to make sure.

I dont think PGH will entertain emailed application or even if you submit your resume personally for staff nurses position because as far as I know this March, they are only entertaining applications for nursing assistants and they are very strict with it because they said that there will be separate dates/ schedule for passing applications for staff nurses but as of now they don't have schedule for it yet. If you doubt this information, you can contact them or if you're near pgh you can go directly to their office. hope this helps..
