Opportunities for HD nurses abroad

I have been recently hired by a company based here in the Caribbean, and this company has plans of expanding across the Dutch Antilles (a group of islands in the southern caribbean, colonies of the Netherlands), and they are planning to open 3 dialysis centers in the next 3 years.

The CEO likes the way Filipinos work, because we are more knowledgeable and skilled than the local nurses here, as far as HD is concerned. He met a Filipino HD nurse in Trinidad and Tobago (another Caribbean country), and that paved the way for opportunities for Filipinos in this region. As of now, we are only 5 HD nurses here in Dutch Guiana (the country where I'm based), and there's 3 more arriving in October.

So maybe sooner or later openings for HD nurses in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao (the Dutch Antilles) will pop up in workabroad.ph.

So invest on your current work in HD and get as much experience as possible.

Thanks for those some valuable information. I was just wondering how you got in touch with agencies hiring nurses for the Carribean region. I can hardly find one. How about the registration process as a nurse? How were you able to obtain permission to work there, is there some kind of reciprocity as it is in KSA? Hoping for your response.

always visit workabroad.ph as I earlier mentioned since that's where I saw the openning for dialysis nurses here.

as for the nursing license, it depends on the country. here in dutch guiana they just asked for the PRC board certificate and granted us 2 years to practice the profession here. however in Trinidad and Tobago, you need to apply for nurse registration at their nursing council. in the Cayman Islands you have to be a US-RN to be eligible for reciprocity. not all caribbean countries have the same regulations.

Hahahaha... I second that but um.... nevermind.. I came from there. Not a good place for your work experience though.

Before the war, we have two Filipino nurses (husband and wife) who work in the dialysis and OT respectively and before Libya, they were previously employed in Trinidad and Tobago. They resigned after a year though and went back to the Carribean ^^

Anyway, most dialysis opportunities in workabroad now are bound for Mid-East.

Hey guys, I'm a new rn from US but studied from Philippines. Now I'm a nurse here in Nevada and Saipan. I just want to know if a new nurse without any hospital experience yet are welcome to Trinidad and Tobago and apply as a nurse there. Does anybody here know the requirements needed to work as a nurse in TnT? Thanks! ^_^

To register as a nurse in Trinidad, you may have to contact their Nursing Council.

To apply in a hospital there, like the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH), it requires that you should be registered with their nursing council and have significant clinical experience.

There were jobs posted before for PoSGH recruiting from the Philippines and they required 5 years experience.

i) A letter of application addressed to: The Secretary

The Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad

Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

WEST INDIES

ii) Certified copies of:

a) Certificate/s of Registration

b) Certificate of Birth

c) Certificate of Marriage

d) Evidence of current registration with the Licensing Body of the State/Province

iii) Non-refundable fee of Six Hundred Trinidad & Tobago Dollars (TT$600.00) for EACH PART for which registration is being sought.

Hello Zero, thank you so much for the info. I really want to work in trinidad but unfortunately as of what you've said that they need 5 years of experience I won't be able to work there. I'm still looking for a rn residency program so i cud start working and gain experience but there's no current available in my area. Can you explain to me what is certificate of registration? Is that the application? Thanks again. ^_^

Certificate of Registration is the PRC Registration Certificate if you're an RN in the Philippines.

If you're an RN in the US, it's your NCLEX-RN certificate.

The Evidence of Current Registration can be your RN ID that states until what date it is valid. It can also be a certification from the Nursing Board that your nursing license is valid until a specific date.
