Your thoughts on Max Savings for Nclex-RN exams in Hong Kong

World Philippines

Published

Hi! Greetings of Peace to all of you! I would like to ask the Filipinos who have already taken the nclex-rn exams and those who have valid, reliable&verifiable info on the latest travel and accommodation perks, what is the cheapest way to get the exams? By saying the cheapest way, I am referring to what is the best method to save on the travel and accommodation?

What airline company offers the lowest rate for trip to HK? How much is the cheapest offer available at present? future(and when)?

What is the nearest hotel to the exam site? The second nearest? 3rd? 4th? 5th? 6th? 7th? 8th? 9th? 10th? Please explain how far/near are these hotels from the test site?

How much do these nearby hotels costs?

What is the best hotel that offers the best value for your money with reference to distance to the test site and price of accommodation/fee for accommodation?

Are there travel agencies in manila and bacolod that can offer airfare, accommodation for a packaged/discounted rate? How much am I going to pay? How long is the stay? If the venue/accommodation where they would place me is far from the test site, will they offer free travel service to the test site?

What agency in manila and bacolod offers the best rate and value(services)at present?

Please help me. Thanks.

Has anybody here went to HK recently for their NCLEX exam can you share to me your recent experiences regarding hotels you stayed in where you ate, the money you have to bring or shuttle and mrt expenses? It would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

thanks to the ones who have provided me info, kiko88 and kathykaye!

hmmm, i'm planning on how much money will be needed for my stay in hk for the exams...so i'll proceed with some more questions:

how are the food prices in hk?

about 150pesos for a meal in mcdo.. a little more for kfc, didn't touch the

chinese stuff because they looked and smelled funky.

will i encounter other expenses other than food?

bus, get that prepaid card that you can use on the bus, the train, and even at 7-11 and mcdo stores...

how much money is needed for a 3 days 2 nights stay or 4 days 3 nights stay in hk as with regards to hk life expenses?

one thousand pesos per day unless you wanna travel around. i went on

vacation there one time for 8 days and had 40thousand pesos with me

and was able to go a little shopping.

what are the types of food available there?

some street food, mcdo, kfc, pizza hut is about 1,000 pesos per person.

for other personal needs like groceries, hygiene stuff, etc. how much is needed for the duration of my stay there in hk?

just bring your own but i'm sure your hotel will have shampoo and soap.

how are the people there? can they speak in english?

most of the people there are in a rush, some can speak english, just ask...

how is the temperature in hk? what are their temperature ranges(hottest to lowest) and please provide me info on the conditions especially on the last quarter?

october is a little cold but i didn't need a jacket, nov and dec, bring a sweater at least.

is it advisable to book by the end of the quarter or just early next year? which is cheaper?

booking earliest is the best way.

by the way, as with the nclex-rn test, can i just get the test anytime after i get my att or do i have to synchronize everything(hotels and airplane booking)?

when(time and days of the week)is the exam usually given?

how many can be accommodated in a day?

thanks.

goodluck!

My exam date is Sept 22, 2006. I booked ONLINE at Cebu Pacific 3 weeks ahead so it's a lot cheaper. P7k two way w/o the taxes. No travel agent.

The hotel prices are too high if you dont have a travel agent. I think agents have a special discounted price so I phoned some local travel agencies in Makati and asked for their packages.

I stayed at PANDA HOTEL. Would I recommend it? If proximity to TESTING SITE GRAND MILLENIUM is the issue, I wont recommend this hotel. It's a 30 minute MTR drive. BUt service quality and hotel amenities are great. They have a shopping MALL on the 1st four floors. So anything you need is basically in there. COMPARING TO THE OTHER HOTELS, I think it's cheaper in PANDA because of the location. It's not in the CENTER of HONg KONG. Just google it and find a map for its location.

Food: McDonalds every morning. It's included in the package. I advise you to contact some Filipino friends in hkong if you have. And asked them to cook Filipino foods. I promised myself not to eat at Mcdo for a year since I got saturated with McDO at breakfast, LUNCH and DINNER. I did try other resto there but the taste and the PRICE is wheeeew!!!! KFC and JOLLIBEE is not accessible anywhere, but MCDO is in every corner of Hkong.

Money: The amount you bring depends on your purpose. If for plain exam, then P8 to 10k would be fine (pocket money). Dont change ALL your money at the airport. If you plan to have some fun after the test, then 15 to 20k. Better to bring extra or just bring a credit card.

Shuttle: Also included in the package. Round trip airport-hotel-airport and also hotel-leisure parks-hotel. But I always got off the BUS since I prefer walking and discovering places. I just took the MTR going back to the hotel. If you are in your youthful years and is adventurous, I suggest doing the same and maximize your hkong stay. You wont get lost. They have ACCURATE SIGNAGE and do get a life-saving MAP which is free at the AIRPORT. Heheheheh

MTR: I bought an OCTOPUS CARD. I learned about this also from the above post/s. It's like our STORED VALUE CARD in our local MRT. But you do not swipe it. It is a censor type card. Just place it in front of the censor and your on the go. This is my very 1st blooper in Hong kong, hahahahahahaha. There is no INSTRUCTION in the CARD. Blessing that there is no one behind me when I kept on INSERTING my card on the slot.... hahahaha (Pls learn from my mistake)

I PM you regarding the package I took and the travel agent in Hong Kong. Happy trip and good luck on your exams.

hi people. i've been reading your posts (and rereading them, especially kiko88's, salonika's and spidey's posts). still i'd like to ask any of you the best hotel to stay in hong kong that is near to an MTR station. the travel agency is recommending me the ramada hong kong hotel, but i read that it's far from the nearest MTR. recommendations/suggestions will be very greatly appreciated (as i plan to book my flight soon; my exam is on july). Thanks so much!

You may try cebu pacific hongkong packages..you have many hotel options there. if you want to see satellite feeds of hotel locations you may download google earth and just type or enter hongkong in the search bar.

God bless your trip and good luck in your exam...

I stayed at a hostel and the price was around $32 a night for a single private room with aircon and private bathroom. It was decent, at least for that price(in comparison with the others IMHO)...

I stayed at sunkong hostel. Hong Kong side I guess. Yes, near the mtr, Cuasewaybay station. Total time including travel(walk) from the hostel to the test center in my case was about 20mins.

You can book thru:

http://www.sunkong.com.hk

But hey, don't expect the best accomodation; hehe, you'd really get what you pay for(cheap price). I stayed there just to save on expenses, and being a Filipino, I guess you can tolerate the place. Hehe, please ask people who have stayed there too, maybe they can tell you what I mean.

By the way, I stayed in a single room with aircon and private bathroom. The good things about it are:

1.) Near the MTR

2.) Not noisy

3.) Near McDo and KFC, convenience stores like 7-11, wellcome, etc...

4.) I was able to spend less
