St. Luke's Global City Training 2012.

I was just wondering if any one has received a response from SLMC GC about the schedule of PGNT1 for batch 2? I already have submitted my requirements and I have paid the initial training fee just recently but I haven't received any text message yet about the schedule of the training. I am just a bit worried because I received a call from a number I don't recognize on Friday about 5:30 AM and I wasn't able to answer it. SLMC told me that the training will probably start last Friday but then again I haven't received any text message from them. I hope the number is not theirs and that the training will start soon. :|

While some posts are true with regard to the "absorption" after training, I am somehow disheartened by some posts that put the institution in a bad light. There is no fairy tale, perfect workplace, and our profession is not exempted.

I believe that as early as the orientation phase, a disclaimer is already being given that the training is not a sure ticket to employment (but gives a chance for selection) so I am appalled how others enter the training and end up being frustrated on how not all managed to enter the next phase.

Each and everyone of us has to give up on something if we want to achieve something better, and that means leaving a part of our life's routine for us to step forward. It may be the previous job, the perks of having your salary, the less stressful work environment, the list goes on. Is this worth the sacrifice you are about to give? Your call. Only you yourself can answer that. To arrive with your decision, you must have a clear goal in mind and must not waive from the decision you make. The regrets that you will embrace are the only TRUE mistakes you'll do if you don't stand up for your decision.

The reality about this profession is just opening for many of you here. No, I'm not saying that I've seen it all, and "been there, done that". It is not only there where you'll meet people (whether patients, patient's relatives, co-associates, doctors) who have nothing to say but ****, so please don't make it look like that it only happens there. If you visit around the other forums here, you'll see that many consider this site as a venting area after receiving a bag load of **** from work.

We all have varying stand on this issue and I respect everyone's take on this matter. Each one has different circumstances in life that directs his/her actions. May everyone be blessed with guidance from the Lord (or your "Divine One") on your decisions to make.

I realized some things as DODOY have pointed some of the posts that disheartened him and I respect the reasons he gave. My last post might have taken all negatively. But I believe I just gave clear realities. It might have few bad light (my apologies for that) like the "**** things" there but I guess it was misunderstood. Yes, it also happen to other institution. I might be wrong in the way I laid the statement just pointing it to SLMC only. I am more of setting the line between the real experiences of few RNs I know who compared their experience in a Public and Private hospital (SLMC as an example). That's why I have mentioned in the last part of my post that I will prefer serving the public hospital as I have been in the same scenario but different institution. It is just a matter of attitude, setting our path and doing our best. Just decide what's best and be where you think you are called. We may have different opinions. I just laid mine. I believe everyone of us do our best to be where we want with the help of God. My sincerest apologies for the disheartening statement I made. God Bless us all.

I went to St. Lukes last Thursday(Aug1) to pass my requirements. The HR only took my resume and board rating then they let me fill up their logsheet. Hoping to hear a call from them and be a part of batch 9 ?

I hope you get in! The training was supposed to start sometime in Mid August but they re-scheduled it for September. Maybe they're evaluating other applicants. That's just my opinion though.

Hi omgellieoh! May I ask how long did it take before they contacted you? I heard some applicants received a text days after they have passed. Mine's almost 2 weeks and still got no call.

Cant believe they have height requirements. Here it can be considered discrimination and u can complain them

They do not have a height requirement. they are just strict on the BMI. BMI must be within the normal range.

I have back read the thread and someone mentioned I can submit the requirements online, can ask how to do it? Thanks in advance.

For other positions, I think you could. But I doubt it for PGNT.

There's no height requirement according to hr I've talked to.

I think it's beacuse they have already completed their list for batch 9 (just my opinion though) Cause when I was interviewed, they told me to wait for their text as they were finalizing the final list of batch 9. Still if you really want to work at SLMC, just keep on passing your credentials and who knows, they might contact you for an interview :)

Do they prefer nurses from NCR? I am from Baguio City and I passed my requirements last July but they never contacted me.

No. They don't prefer nurses from NCR. they welcome nurses from every island of the country to be part of the institution. SLMC also believes that not all the competent nurses are found only in metro manila. I suggest you submit another copy of your resume and board rating directly in the HR. if you become a PGNT though, there's no guarantee that you will be hired since the vacancies were already been filled up by batch 7 which is my batch. but who knows, the turnover at slmc global is so fast. you can be pooled anytime they are vacancies
