Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

One of the required items was a name stamp (trodat). Does anyone have an idea on where is the best and most affordable place to have one made?

...And the fastest? Because in national bookstore, I have to wait for a week before I can claim it. Does anyone know of a place where I can get it the same day?

Thanks again!

awww same thing you still need to wait hehe what's the format of the trodat?

Oh btw guys, update just received a text for my final interview omg! tips please? and what to expect? OMG!

Sorry for the late update everyone, we started last monday and I was really stressed because my allowance for travel time is 3hrs, so I didn't have the time for sitting on the computer. :dead:

Mon-Thurs was classroom lecture about hospital policies, background, culture, what to expect, basic skills, admission and discharge, charting, customer service, etc.

Friday was immersion to our designated areas.

Hi guys, do you think MMC will still accommodate more trainees? I've submitted my documents last June 13 and I haven't received any notice from MMC yet. What should I do next? Should I contact them to ask or just wait?

Hi! Is there anyone here who already graduated from the training, i.e., COPN?

I would just like to have an insight regarding their status after being a trainee.

I am already scheduled for medical exam next week but I'm not sure whether to continue my application since I am currently employed and I think I can't afford to give up my work unless there's a bright clear path ahead of me at MMC.

I hope there's someone here who can help me with my dilemma. Thanks a lot!

Hi The White Wizard! I would just like to ask if they had given you trainees an idea of what will happen next after the completion of your 1month training? I want to know (if possible) the success rate of being absorbed by the hospital after undergoing their training. I would highly appreciate if you'll reply to my query. Thanks. Goodluck and Godbless to you and other colleagues as well.

Hi!

What they told us was, absorption will be based on performance. The training also serves as an evaluation. Once absorbed, we will be hired as Probationary Staff Nurses for 6months. That also serves as an evaluation, if performance was satisfactory, then we will be hired as Regular Staff Nurses. Our trainer told us that all of the trainees were absorbed in the last batch, but that doesn't mean that all of us will be absorbed too. We really have to give our best.

Hi! I had my exams just this morning and I'll be having my interview tomorrow. Reading from the previous comments, i was wondering if the training program is from 6am to 2pm?

Hi tinai. May i ask when you passed your application? :)

I passed my application last sept-oct 2012! It was a very long "2 weeks" notification. :roflmao: I wasn't really expecting anymore from MMC but I got an unexpected sms just this Mon and was scheduled for an exam today and interview tomorrow. I'm really having a dilemma right now because I'm currently an RN heals at a gov. hosp. So if ever I got accepted into this program (hopefully) I wanted to know what is their usual training time so I can fix my schedule. i still don't want to let go of my RN heals because from what I've read you still have to go on a 1 mo training then waiting time again. So does anybody know what their training time is? Thanks! :)

Woah. It took a long time :uhoh3: I hope i would also receive a message the soonest. Anyway, you have good opportunities right now. You can ask the schedule tomorrow so you can decide well. Goodluck tomorrow! Will it not be hard for you to have RN HEALS and COPN TRAINING at the same time? :/
