Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

That's what I'm worrying about! Yup, i'll ask the HR about the training schedule and i'll decide later if all the results are out. I hope you also get your sched earlier not like mine. Good luck to all of us! :)

Oh btw guys, update just received a text for my final interview omg! tips please? and what to expect? OMG!

hi! any updates after your final interview?

Hello tinai! Time of training will vary depending on you schedule. You will be exposed from 600-1400 and 1400-2200 :)

Hi there. Good day! I would like to ask if anybody knows the email address of makati med HR? And if we can send application through email? Thanks. :)

i don't think they prioritize applications thru email.

i don't think they prioritize applications thru email.

Yes. I agree with this. Hospitals in the Philippines usually require walk-in application.

Thanks for the info!

Hey guys! How long did you wait before they contact you for a final interview?

I passed my application last sept-oct 2012! It was a very long "2 weeks" notification. :roflmao: I wasn't really expecting anymore from MMC but I got an unexpected sms just this Mon and was scheduled for an exam today and interview tomorrow. I'm really having a dilemma right now because I'm currently an RN heals at a gov. hosp. So if ever I got accepted into this program (hopefully) I wanted to know what is their usual training time so I can fix my schedule. i still don't want to let go of my RN heals because from what I've read you still have to go on a 1 mo training then waiting time again. So does anybody know what their training time is? Thanks! :)

Hi Tinai, good luck with that. I am currently an RN HEALS trainee as well and I don't think I can manage to be in COPN and RN HEALS at the same time despite the less toxic routines in the Psych setting...well I know it still subjective but would you be able to ask for a specific schedule from your supervisors just to attend both COPN and RN HEALS at the same time? Well, I don't think I can handle both specially if I am an RN HEALS trainee in a medical hospital.

Hi. I wonder how many people they are inviting for exam and interview. A friend of mine who is already a staff nurse there informed me that MMC is hiring. I hope I will receive a text from them. I am hoping not to pay for training. I am done with the processing in WORLD CITI MEDICAL CENTER for july batch

However, i haven't paid yet the training fee. It is 5k for 7weeks. It is somehow expensive for less than 2months. So i am hoping for other opportunity from other hospitals.

Hi sab-burgs! I totally agree, I hope MMC will no longer ask for training fees. Btw, after your training at World Citi, what's next? Will they absorb the trainees who performed well during the training phase?

Hi ems01 :) The training in MMC is now free. They have changed their training program. I think it is 1 month only. Yes for WORLD CITI, there is possible absorption. So long as you have passed the 88% above evaluation. It includes attendance, performance evaluation from the preceptor, written and oral exam. You pass those, you are good for absorption. It some takes 6 months and above, depending on the availability or number of people to be hired. My friend took 7 months before she was called for FLOATER NURSE. You are already hired when you became a FLOATER NURSE - it has a pay but no benefits and no tax,SSS,etc. Then, count 5months after, you will be on PROBATIONARY. Then, 6months, you are a REGULAR NURSE. My friend who went through that process, it is worth it... so long you will make it worthy as well. After the regular training, which mostly in WARDS, they have another training for SPECIAL AREAS (ER, OR, ICU) that you will pay for again! :wideyed: According to them, it is not a TRAINING FEE! It is a "MISCELLANEOUS FEE" LOL.
