did texas bon approve you already and got your eligibility?

texas bon foreign graduate requires (according to their website):

    E) All international applicants must provide proof of working in nursing for a period totaling two (2) years (i.e. 24 months) at anytime after graduation from a nursing program.

    F) If you have not worked at least two (2) years as a first level, general nurse within the four (4) years preceding the filing of the application, you will not be licensed until you complete a Foreign Educated Nurse (FENS) refresher course consisting of 120 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours of clinical practice under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The applicant required to take the FENS refresher will be given a six (6) month permit to complete the refresher course.

Hi, newbie in here and can't help to notice but I guess I can safely say we are in the same boat. Anyways, here is my story. I am Fil-Canadian and went back in the Phil to finished nursing and back to canada w/o taking NLE. I applied a lic in CA BON, took NCLEX and passed just Jan2010 and now waiting for visascreen. I plan to work in the US using TN visa. I keep on reading that it is really hard finding job in CA and in my case 0 experience but now interested in moving anywhere perhaps Texas. By the way my wife is an experience RN nurse here in Canada but she is just starting to study for NCLEX, bottom line where I can find work she will come with me too.

I am wondering if you can tell me your experience finding the first job. Are you employed now? I appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance.

i experienced that.it was and until now is hard to find a nursing job in california for new graduate without experience (especially in the bay area).. when i passed the nclex last year, i applied every hospitals in california, but no one was calling me. it took me 2 months looking and waiting and decided to go to texas and work here which i got empoloyed within a month. if you have experience, i think you can find one easily.. and also, mostly, their priority are graduates in the states and not from foreign country.

We are looking for houses in Frisco Texas which is north of Dallas. Frisco is a city of wealth and is growing rapidly a few years ago it was the city with most growth in the USA. Lots of money, lots of new construction, many private wealthy hospitals in the area.

    Texas Rulz....

Wow you have an exciting life, a new marriage, new home and new profession. For a young couple this is an exciting time. Don't go into debt, you don't have a job and your husband will be busy establishing himself at work .

Usually private wealthy hospitals are not the most generous to work for, the government is looking at Texas as a high cost low outcome area, don't assume that this is your golden ticket.

Best of luck, age 20 with a new young husband, so much to look forward to.

Interesting maybe she worked at student during college. I wonder if the nurses who are going to the easiest state to get a license will find later on it will catch up with them in the future, I am basing this on CA who is now not taking the applications.
