Does anyone know of any institution that offers EMT training here in Manila?

Thanks!:nurse:

You can't cut corners in training for a field that requires skill. EMT is both mental and physical. You can't gain the knowledge and skills with just 2 days of OJT.

so what exactly do you mean here bro or sis?hehehe.. that cheers AREMT training for nurses in quality perspective is not that good? Im just asking...coz I really want to focus my career on emergency..and I dont want to pay so much for a training/course which is not worth it..hehehe..In addition, Im not hitting any being on this reply...this is just a simple inquiry..thanks

Right now, I have an OJT who came from CHEERS. And based from my pre-employment exam, I just couldn't take them in as probationary staff yet. I now accept graduates of CHEERS not because they are skilled already, but because I feel sorry that they had to pay so much for nothing. I'm not the type of person who bash on other people but I am truly dismay by what happened to these nurses. I am giving them OJT for free because I really feel that they were cheated. And from what my OJT told me, the renewal for AREMT is Php 10,000. I'm actually advising them to just take the course again from another training school. It'll be more beneficial in the long run.

What? last time I registered with AREMT, LSTI asked me for just P3,000 and as of posting time, I checked AREMT's website and it says there that registration is A$78 and $75 for renewal.

Anyway doc, I recently applied to you but I guess I was a bit late because there's no more opening. hehe! :D

Hi there! I also took my emt at lsti and I'm currently taking my OJT at PERS. Theres something bothering me about the EMS bill. I'm planning to ask any of the staff there or ma'am J herself about it but I just thought you guys might help me better understand these things before I go there. The EMS bill or SBN 3458 is often mentioned in the lectures at lsti, it was said that it would standardize EMS. It was also said that sir A is one of the authors of the bill which was very reassuring for the grads. I got interested, searched and came across this http://www.senate.gov.ph/lis/bill_res.aspx?congress=14&q=SBN-3458. I then found out that it was already substituted by SBN 3579 http://www.senate.gov.ph/lis/bill_res.aspx?congress=14&q=SBN-3579 which already passed the third reading. I also remember a letter posted at a door of one of the training rooms at lsti, which was an actual letter sent to tesda stating that psemt rejects accreditation or affiliation (cant remember exactly but it was something like that) by the TESDA NCII program and labelled it as "Substandard".. Now what im worried about is that if you read SBN 3458 and SBN 3579 TESDA would be the regulating body for EMTs and EMS here in the philippines. TESDA was allowed to regulate and even train all levels of EMT even up to EMT-P. This brings what others refer to as "fly by night" training centers to an advantage. I'm also worried that this would also be one of the requirements of POEA or agencies for employment. Being also a graduate and top of the batch I believe in the standards of LSTI, but what does this Bill really hold for lsti and its graduates?

I think if you already graduated and is already practicing as an EMT by the time it will be passed, you won't have a problem with LSTI's accreditation with TESDA as what I understood with Section 29-30, but I may be wrong. And also, I think that TESDA NC II program will be different with the "EMT" course in the proposed bill. Try asking mam Joan about that.

Thanks for that...I focused more on the 1st bill and I must have missed that part. =) It would also be nice if they included a section that would prohibit Hospitals from denying to admit Pts. for any reason.. or is there already such a law?

I guess there's already a law against hospitals refusing patients regarding emergency treatment. They are obliged by law to provide immediate life support treatment then they can just send the patient to other hospitals if they cannot admit them. I'm just not so sure about this.

Did you mean refusing patients from pre-hospital setting or interfacility transfers? If you're referring to interfacility transfers, I guess they can refuse to admit patients from other hospitals especially if they are not properly referred.

even from prehospital setting.. we often get this from Osmun, and even pgh etc.. common reasons are that they dont have enough room, there are no relatives, etc.. at one point even pgh said they ran out of O2 and refused to admit a patient. theres also this one instance that pgh refused to admit an acute abdomen emergency pt is aleardy febrile and gave us a run around that it was more of an endocarditis even if the patient already has muscle guarding.. we spent time talking/arguing with the doctors and the conversation was becoming more pointless so we just left off to heart center where they told us to go to. we got there and were told of the same thing we were telling pgh we ended up at east ave..

sir/mam: need your good advice and information

*new rn here

no experience

* i am planning of taking emt b training... need info re: wings rescue zone in sucat (formerly: rescue__??) - near my place, but not sure of standards & recognition

* went to lsti already and their vacancy is still on march2012 - heard many good things about this school but i would like to start the soonest

* heard also of cheer's bridging program for 10days.. - which has an august sched, but more expensive & short period only

* and pemf - w/c has a posted sched for sept. & oct.

* quite expensive training thats why i would like to enroll to one of those reputable & recognized schools locally..

* and after passing the training - can provide greater chances of being accepted locally as a volunteer, (and/or offered) as a worker and eventually after enough emt experience will be recognized internationally and have good chances of being hired abroad..

thank you

hi migRN!

I've heard that pemfri will be conducting weekend classes this August with a discounted tuition fee compared to weekday classes.. I'm also considering the availability of the EMT schools and the expenses..

Guys is it true that the NC II exam will be taken at Kamias now? (where PEMFRI is?) Can I still take my NC II exam in Pampanga??

Thanks guys! :D

Hi! The NCII can still be taken in Pampanga. However, there are different location of assessment center in the Philippines where each TESDA training center can apply for, depending on the trade they want to. Like Humancare International, they are applying to be an assessment center.
