EMT Training in Manila

Does anyone know of any institution that offers EMT training here in Manila?

Thanks!:nurse:

yes we can have a job in an ambulance service for being just an EMT-B as an EMT but not a paramedic. Paramedic is a higher level of EMT right? So to get a job as a paramedic you have to be an RN,EMT-B with ACLS, PHTLS, PALS trainings to be considered for the job since there's no paramedic training there in the Philippines.

to chuku,

you will actually get paid more as an ER nurse than as an EMT. that's why many EMT in the US continue their studies to become nurses. it's only in the philippines that we do things in reverse. it's more of the economy of job availability.

if you really want to become an ER nurse, i would suggest investing more on ACLS, ATLS, PALS and IVT. that will give you a better edge inside the ER. also, finishing an MSN won't hurt. :nurse:

oh, and after getting snobbed by middle east, i landed a job as a university professor here in the philippines. but i now have my own ambulance company. :D

to ron,

finishing EMT-B will already qualify you to land a job in the ambulance. but if you want to become a big fish, taking the next higher level will be your key. in the philippines, we don't have emt-P. i'm not sure if we even have a credible emt-I or A. that's where the RN-EMT's get the edge. :smokin:

I'll choose LSTI nothing more! Kudos to Sir A and Ma'am J thank you for everything!

i'd choose pemfri over cheers. although cheers has aremt, pemfri has a larger orificenal of heavy duty instructors. another group that's great is rescue one. it's made up of the gods and goddesses of ems in the philippines. but their training is on hold awaiting the result of the ems bill in the senate. i hear that doc t is now doing lecture at bright. always ask the emt school if they have consultants from the philippine college of emergency medicine (PCEM).

On a second thought i think i know who you are! You're a physician and your husband is Mr. * he used to work at Lifeline am I right?

emt-B is around 8 weeks. then you need OJT hours before moving to emt-D, which is around 2 weeks. but after that... i don't know if LSTI has added any program.

If I'm in your position i'll register now at LSTI for the October training. And yes while waiting for October take the other trainings first that would be great.

yup. i guess that's me :p i know lsti is great and all, but just like in colleges... not because you didn't get to study in UP... you'll just jump over the cliff. dr. * and dr. *are great. and they are teaching in several schools.

Healthcare Advantage Institute, Makati are running EMT courses in conjunction with PSEMT & Lifeline. LSTI assisting to maintain high standards. At the moment this is the only real option as just about everything else is of very dubious standards. See Lifeline Website for link or go to http://www.hcainstitute.com.

hi john, actually i also searched about it..i really wanted to take this course asap, i heard about LSTI which is the most recommended training school, my problem was the whole year slot was already taken, so i choose between PEMFRI and CHEERS. On July 18, i'll be starting may 1st day in CHEERS. Yes, it's only 10days maybe because it is RN bridging course to EMT-B? I'm also thinkin' about it. I searched NREMT RN bridging EMT course and it takes 110hrs only, not sure though.

thanx for ur reply bro..Is EMS NC II TESDA certification really included? How much is there training fee? because they will be having one here in iloilo this august and its 33K...kinda more expensive compared to LSTI..

Hi! Emergency Medical Service National Certification II (EMS NCII) is an assessment conducted by TESDA accredited EMS assessor and center. This is an national certification issued by TESDA once you passed the assessment examination. This is done for one whole day, consist of skills demonstration and oral examinations. You will be asked to perform different task of an EMT from Performing Basic Life Support and others. You can attend the free orientation from Asian Center for Emergency Preparedness Inc. Located at Rm 201 CRM bldg 106 Kamias Road Quezon City. You may call 3998878 or 09228832216.

After taking the EMT - B training from an accredited institution, you can take the NCII. Do not worry, you can take the NCII, because there's no pass or fail. It says, your COMPETENT or NOT YET COMPETENT and every body deserves a second chance.

Right now, I have an OJT who came from CHEERS. And based from my pre-employment exam, I just couldn't take them in as probationary staff yet. I now accept graduates of CHEERS not because they are skilled already, but because I feel sorry that they had to pay so much for nothing. I'm not the type of person who bash on other people but I am truly dismay by what happened to these nurses. I am giving them OJT for free because I really feel that they were cheated. And from what my OJT told me, the renewal for AREMT is Php 10,000. I'm actually advising them to just take the course again from another training school. It'll be more beneficial in the long run.
