Hello everyone! Any Filipino nurse working in Florida? I will be employed in Jacksonville hopefully by this year and would be glad if anyone will share their Florida experience with me and the rest of my friends who are also bound for Jacksonville. Thanks a lot!

i think that's the way it is. i also want to take the courses online but i guess we have no choice but to register first.

Good day to all of you!!!

i need help regarding filling out the application form for florida nursing licensure. i am a Pinoy RN graduated last March 2005 wishing to work there in Miami, Florida. My CES report was completed last May 2006 and now i am in the process of filling out the application form.

my questions are:

1. Availability for Disaster: Will yo be available to provide healthe cares services in special need... in times of emergency or major disaster? Yes or No

how do i answer this pls? does it mean if i am there in FLorida already?

2. Madatory Continuing Education Requirement

on 3 hour HIV/AIDS and I hour Domestic Violence

which one should i check? a) i have completed these required Florida statutes or b) at this time i have not completed the required.......

thank you very much for your help...

thanks for all your responses.

i am really really sorry for posting the same question. something is wrong with our internet server here at home, its keeps on disconnecting for several times already that's why i didn't have the idea whether my querries were sent or not. thank you for your patience and understanding.

i am still at a lost in filling out the application form. thank you in advance for your help.

1. if you want to help during emergency situation in FL, check 'yes'

2. if you have already taken and completed the continuing education courses required, check the 'i have completed...'. otherwise, check 'at this time, i have not completed...'

btw, which company evaluated your credentials?

hi bloodytom!

i haven't had these courses yet. if i check no, can i take this courses sometime after the NCLEX? will it affect my eligibility if I check NO?

i had the CES- Credential Evaluation Services evaluate my documents. it is a service by the CGFNS. you can download the file from www. cgfns.org. presently it costs $278. choose the science course by course report , it is for nurses. before May 1, 2006, it was cheaper.

my CES was completed last May 2006. i hope that Florida Bon has received a copy of it.

anyway, thanks for helping me.

as far as i know, FL BON accepts CES done by other agencies. and this one accredited agency in miami processes everything in just 10 business days for non-rush job. and it's only for $250.

you can take the courses within 6 mos after licensure. i know they provide it online too. it will not affect your eligibility.

everything is in their website

The major issue with using another company, other than CGFNS, is if you decide to endorse to another state later on, and they require the CES, you will be required to obtain that. Most require the actual CES from CGFNS.

When trying to get things done fast, it will usually come back to bite you on the butt.

And if there are questions about working in Florida, it would be more appropriate to post them on the Florida Forum. Nurses from other areas, besides the Philippines, are also new to the area, and will have the same type of concerns, even if they moved from one side of Florida just across the state. Things vary greatly by city, and are not specific to any group of people that are there, but by all. Do not limit yourselves.

thank you for all the help!!!

My initial license came from Vermont. As far as I can remember, the Florida BON didn't ask for CES for the endorsement of license.

i think she means if you're initially licensed from FL and you want to endorse to another state
