Do you think I need to appeal

I completed the SEC, the required 4 courses in 2009. I wrote the CRNE and passed, but couldn't complete the 250 hours. I was having issues that prevented me from flying to BC. My file expired Feb., the 10th, 2013 and I've been told that I can update my file and paid the 560 CD. I didn't have any problem. However, two weeks ago, the 250 hours reference requirement has been cancelled. I think that logically my status should be converted into an RN (fully registered) since my file just recently expired.

I am afraid that I will go through the same process again. I filled out the update form and signed that I may been asked to go through the SEC again!!! I also need to apply for English proficiency test again as mine is expired. Do you think I can appeal? I want to be fully registered because the only outstanding requirement has been cancelled??

Thanks and Good Luck to you ALL...

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

But sounds like only just, definitely talk to the college

Hello everybody,

I am a RN practising registrant.. WOW.. I am so excited, happy.. etc...

Any advice with regard to working in BC??

Specializes in MS, Emergency.

Unfortunately, it's tough to find a job in BC at the moment. I've been applying like crazy. Hoping for the best soon.

Are you Canadian?!

BC, ON, and AB are undergoing hiring freezes and budget cuts. The lowermainland of BC and the urban areas of the other provinces are very hard job markets to crack unless you have specialized skills. Think OR or ICU.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I am an ICU, ER nurse in my home country. Hope to find a job soon as I am moving to BC later this year..

Have you considered joining a professional association like the Canadian association of critical care nurses? One of the benefits of joining a professional association is the ability to network with nurses from across Canada at the conferences. If this years conference is being hosted near you, then suggest you not only plan to attend, but also find out if you can volunteer for the conference. I have volunteered with a few conferences and the organizers appreciated having volunteers to help with preparations prior to and during the conference.

Many thanks dishes!!! Your posts are really helpful and informative. I really appreciate your advice.. I will for sure search for such events and it will be a great opportunity for me to volunteer..

Thanks again :-)
