Anybody who will be taking the CRNE on October 5, 2011, please post your comments and suggestions here like making a study group, sharing notes, meeting at the library or anything that will help the examinees pass the examination. Thanks!

Hi guys,

I am waiting for my result also. I live in Mississauga. Waiting is simply horrible. I have a question. Do you guys remember anything from that exam? I do not intend to discuss any question but I am just curious because I personally feel like I never wrote that exam! With the exception of 5-6 questions that I was able to check with my friend who also wrote the crne in Oct '11 right after the eaxm, now I am not able to remenber anything...could be posttraumatic stress or am I totally crazy? I also planed to continue studying just in case you know...guess what, I am not able to focus at all!

I am actually opposite.... i remember a lot of questions maybe around 15 or more which is alot.. and most of those questions are the ones i probably struggled with and im nervouse cause out of those 15 im roughly around 65%...if you want to discuss some q. feel free to email me or pm...

It is also my 2nd time taking it. I found OCT harder. I studied 400% more that the june because i didnt do any practice in june cause i was working full-time. But yet I found the OCT harder maybe because

A.) I am just really nervous this time around and over thinking things

B.) I really messed up and failed...lol

It drives me crazy... I havent gone to work for 2 months because its depressing to go back to the hospital (as a sitter). All i do is pray... I am trying to visualize the things I would do if I am not successful again. TO better prepare myself.

Also, I am continuing to study and taking my NCLEX possible around dec. because at that rate pass or fail. I have continued to study and be much prepared for Feb (if unsuccessful) and if Successful (crosses fingers) I will still take my NCLEX and have a dual certification.

My suggestion is.. try to keep studying if your worried.. its depressing cause its repetitive but theres really nothing you can do...

a prayer I always say to myself is this (for the religious ones):

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.`...

just forgot to tell you that it would be much better for you if you try picture yourself (literally) receiving a small envelope and reading the phrase " you successfully passed..."; it is called the power of positive thinking! try this exercise several times per day and several times for each let's say 'session'

So, do you have any ideas how can we get our contacts (emails) since this is a public forum and I do not like posting my personal contacts here and I suppose you do not like it also in your case...I will find some other options...I am usually a perseverant individual :)))

Moreover, you say that 15 questions troubled you the most...but what about lets say they could be the experimental (nobody knows, right, which ones are experimental)? So, if you consider the issue from this perspective your chances rose exponentially! What I am trying to say is that you might have done better than you think and a little bit of confidence does not hurt. Speaking of confidence and positive thinking, you know, there is a book, an inexpensive and maybe a simplistic one, but which worked for me a lot in the past. I strongly recommend you to get and read this book.

What is an experimental question?

I felt the exam questions were much harder compared to the CRNE prep guide and Mosby's prep book for the exam, I studied alot and did not feel good comming out of the exam. I answered questions wrong on the exam that were common knowledge to me and this was because I was over analyzing the questions!

Look at flippindc5's posts. Right next to "Registered User" under the user name there should be several icons: a blue circle with an "i" in it, a paper and pencil, an envelope, a green circle with a "+" in it and a magnifying glass. If you don't see those icons, click on the user name and they'll come up. Now click on the envelope. (flippindc5 has selected that s/he be able to receive emails from members so you can email directly from here without sharing it with the rest of the world.) Another screen will open up that you can use to compose your email. There you go.

I totally agree with you. I felt same thing in respect to to the difficulty of the exam. Maybe it was the wordiness that increased the difficulty and confused our brains already traumatized by the high level of anxiety.Or maybe it was simply the time factor that made us to rush during the exam and reduce our thinking capacity. I also studied the books mentioned by you, plus the whole MedSurge book (I thought that I would go nuts with that...it ate my 5 entire weeks), the CNA and CNO documents and did Lippincott, all the editions of CRNE prep guides. I think I exagerated with the time allotted for the preparation of this exam (some days I studied 12-14 hours per day which I realize now it was a big mistake because I fatigued my brain unnecessary). I came out almost crying (although I finished the exam 8 minutes before the expiring time) and my husband did not understand my reaction. He told me " You are the only one with tears in your eays ...everybody is laughing and look comfortable...why??". Then, I started to check the little information that I remmbered (and I was not sure about)with my friend and having same answers I relaxed more. Now with the time accumulated, I feel terrified.

The experimental questions are the ones that the creators of the exam throw in the real exams to see how people solve them and introduce them ( or not) with future crne as regular questions. When in the experimental phase, these questions do not count towards your final score. I am not sure, but I believe there are 20 questions like that. Hope I clarified a little bit this aspect. when is the result be out? maybe next week? i am so anxious waiting for it.... i am eating a lot lately, i don't know, maybe to cope with the stress that i am experiencing right now.

THe experimental will be approximately 20 questions that will not count in your total score .. those qustions will be used for the upcoming test if they are sufficient. Moreover, they will also take some questions out if the candidates failed to answer them correctly. Example in June 2011 they took out 24 questions... 20 experimental and 4 questions...

You can not compare the CNA book or mosbys... the questions there are not that difficult... the crn exam is weird... you will have 2 correct answers but 1 you will do 5 seconds earlier lol... thats why you tend to struggle between 2 questions even if you studied hard.

I heard last year people started getting there results within the end of this weeek(smaller areas). So bigger provinces will get theres next week or later next next.

Theres really nothing you can do. Its not the end of the world... its sucks.. really. You know you are capable of working as a nurse, getting appraised by colleagues, managers and patients but yet you cant work cause of this entrance exam. Thats just how life is...

Always remember, you will never be given a challenge you cannot endure...

I spoke to a phone representative from CNO a couple days ago and she said the results will start to be mailed out next week!

Hi Therapeutic,

thank you for your response to my question, on experimental questions, that does help. You were not the only person crying comming out of the exam, once I got to my vehicle I began to cry as well, we are all in this together and should not feel alone. We have all worked very hard to get this far, and it is not the end of the world if the worst thing could happen, because we can do it again in February and be all the more wiser, positive thinking and keeping busy are helping me to get through this waiting period, next week will be here before we know it. good luck to everyone:)
