1. You reach behind your ear for your pen and pull out a rectal thermometer.

2. You begin to slip off your shoes to relax, and find your OR booties still on.

3. You go to a restaurant, order your meal, go to the bathroom, look in the mirror, and see your fancy OR hat still on your head.

4. You reach for your stethescope, and pull a cannula off of your neck.

5. You reach for your wallet or purse and pull out a medical kit you used on a patient.

I had driven home after a looong 12hr shift, when I remembered something that I had forgotten to pass along in report so I called work and got put on hold while they went to find the RN I needed to talk to.

At this point, I had pulled into my driveway and was collecting up my belongings when I realized I couldn't find my cell phone. I spent about 1 minute looking for the darned thing when I realized that I was holding it to my ear still on hold.:selfbonk:

In my defense, we don't have music while on hold...so it was silent! lol

Cool!!:yeah:

You are stopped at a red light (on the same road you've drove home on everyday for 10 years) and are getting mad because this is the longest light ever, you've been sitting there for 10 minutes, when suddenly you realize that your sitting at a stop sign.

You have just fallen asleep, when the phone rings and you frantically wake up and try to first stop the vent alarm from beeping and when that doesn't work you decide it must be the IV.

when it has been an horrendous terrible horrible awful day and you walk a football field length equivalent from your building to the car on a day when it's about zero, drive half way home, and realize you left your coat in your locker. worst part is that you still have to walk from the driveway to the door once you get home. :smackingf:grn::dzed::omy:

:lol2:Top ten reasons you know you've had a hectic shift/day at work (my own personal "DOH!" list) :lol2:

10. You sit down on the couch in the lobby of the SNF/Hospital/ALF you work in after your shift ended because your feet and back are aching so bad thinking "I'll just sit here a minute". 3 hours later you're woken up by the receptionist and asked if you're ok.

9. You have a brilliant nurse's note going, and then look down to see you're writing in the wrong chart *sob*

8. You place bets with your coworkers on how long the screamers will stay quiet

7. You thought even for a second that "pillow therapy" was an option

6. you get into your car and halfway home realize the med cart keys are still in your pocket and didn't realize it until your cell rings and your supervisor tells you to bring back the med cart keys.

5. you empty your pockets in the junk bin on your kitchen table and feel 20 lbs lighter.

4. you've got the reminants of medication on your shirt because that sweet little old lady spit her crushed pills all over your whites.

3. you are in mid pen stroke and completely forgot what you wanted to say in the nurses notes

2. you wanted to TP the administrator's car or egg his/her office when he/she even suggest that the nursing staff should be cut back in order to "Weather these tough economic times"

1. you've left your wallet at work and freaked out for 5 minutes before realizing, it's in your leg pocket. :D
