ALong the line of the beer story, my first IV was during my ER rotation of school... this guy had a blood alcohol of .185 at 11 o'clock in the morning. That 18g slid right in his hand without any problem! He picked up his head, looked at me and said "That didn't hurt a bit!" WONDER WHY!!!

Or just before the transfer. That goes for the laxative as well. The graduate nurse gives the laxative right after it's ordered. The experienced nurse gives it just before change of shift or transfer.

This is so true! I am a new nurse and I see many of the new grad traits in myself.

I love grad nurses and sure enjoyed reading this. This is so true and funny!

Grad Nurses are the first on the floor after report. Experienced Nurses take a coffee break first.

Ya. Running to codes was exciting for about one day, and then I found out what happened to bladder and bowel sphincter control after a code is pronounced...

"You bag em, you have to tag em..."

    Poops on that!

    In my experience,
A new graduate will turn a vomiting patient on their side to observe them while they vomit on your shoes
An experience nurse will always turn the patient away from them so the vomit will hit the floor.

took me a while to learn this one......

"....An Experienced nurse calls housekeeping when a pt. throws up "

Wow-housekeeping cleans up your puke? You are so lucky. We have to clean up our own puke. Housekeeping just mops the floor afterward. They said, " We don't clean puke, ****, blood or pee," I wish I were you.
