What states have the most NG jobs? (the two or three there are)

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Finally after a year and a half and 300 applications decided to say good by to California. It's simply useless to try getting a job here. The last I heard was that 2000 applicants for 5 position is San Diego. So now what? I'm looking at the pretty much all the states out there. I spent 2 days applying in Texas but then read it's bad there too, should I keep trying in Texas? Is there anyplace which offer at least some hope? Rural hospitals? anything?

I'm willing to go anywhere but the question is where and what kinds of places I should try first? I sometimes wonder if there is even a chance of getting a nursing job at all! Any suggestions out there are truly appreciated. I can't believe people are still flocking to nursing school at all! Don't they know?

You should have come to Northern CA, I believe that the jobs may be better. Also I know that Atlanta GA is hiring RN's and LPN's. Best Wishes!!

When you say northern CA, how far north do you mean? I live in the Bay area & the job outlook is horrible! There's so many people who have been looking for jobs for well over a year! I'm still searching, but luckily it hasn't been THAT long

I mean as far north as you can go. I think in terms of hospitals that will consider taking new grads and don't necessarily have a "ng program". The only hospitals willing to do that are the ones located in areas where no one wants to go. The Bay Area is probably one of the worst places for NG these days, sorry to say. California in general follows the same path. Everyone wants to be here, great living, high wages so you have to get out of your comfort zone.

Hi all! I am in NC and I am a new grad who has been applying everywhere across the state to work any shift, any time any location (since I have the flexibility to relocate) - and I am so thankful to hear that there are 2 people on here that are from NC that have gotten jobs as a new grad. If you could tell me what direction to go in or what companies they were with I would really appreciate it. I have been applying at prisions, for the state, hospitals that hire LPN's, LTC (you can look them up county by county) and urgent care clinics. I have also been looking at indeed.com and craigs list. Would love any and all suggestions of where you all have gone in the NC area - it gives me hope that there are places where I live that are hiring new grads - :) Thanks so much for your time. xoxo

I can't find a message button for you, Marco. Send me a message. I located a place near the Oregon border a few weeks ago; it is very isolated, unfortunately.

Thank you all for your reply. I guess I'll porifice the fine combing ounce more in Cal this time only targeting rural hospitals. I did get two calls yesterday from Texas and North Dakota(wow they actually called me I was so happy). ND has jobs and they will hire without experience but there's a big problem and that is no housing. I you have an RV that can take that kind of weather and are willing to make $23/h they will hire you. I guess I can do better than that. There are tons of small 25 bed hospitals everywhere in places no one wants to go and I'm just getting started.

Pay may be low but I'm sure cost of living is not bad either so it actually evens out. Look at the fact that they will hire you and train you since most new grads these days are averaging 1-2 years in finding a job after graduating. Bright side is if you take the job offered you don't have to stay there forever, gain the necessary experience and move forward.
