National Telemetry Assoc Certificate worth while?
- 0Feb 20 by JazzyJaneHi everyone, I'm a new nurse (RN) grad and like so many others I have been having trouble finding a job so I'm trying to do anything I can to give myself a leg up so I've been looking into different certificates that I can get. The national telemetry association has a certificate (not certification). Is it worthwhile to get or will potential employers wonder why I have it since I did have some telemetry training in school. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

I started out as a new grad on a telemetry unit last year. Part of orientation was a telemetry class taught by the nurse educator. After this I was capable for sitting as the monitor tech (who is not usually an RN). If you haven't already, it would be worth your while to get your ACLS certification. This will train you to recognize rhythms and make you more attractive to employers. Make sure you get the cert from the American Heart Association and not some other online school. I searched for online ACLS but realized the only way to do it legit is to physically go take a class somewhere.
