Job posting gone but interview in two days?

Nurses Job Hunt

I was told I could interview in two days for a job posting that I applied to last week. When the recruiter e-mailed me for the interview the posting was still up, it was up all of last week actually. Thursday is the soonest I could interview, and she told me to pick a day this week. Do you think they already decided on someone else and that I waited too long since the posting is no longer online? I had this happen before so now I'm really anxious that I'm going to interview for them to tell me that they don't even have the position anymore.

sounds like they are planning to hire someone from the group of interviewees: and you are in that group. So do not worry.

Most job advertisements generate an overwhelming number of applications - They are legally required to 'process' each application, so cut them off when they have a sufficient number. As PP says, you have already made it through the initial screen and included in the interview group. Best of luck to you - sending major job MOJO your way!

Thanks guys! I think the interview went well. But sadly, the job postings were for full-time and I believe they were taken down for a reason. :( The HR told me that those positions were given to internal applicants. So they are offering part time, which I'm willing to accept. They were nice about it though and stated that after a month I would be able to apply to be full-time with the next position that pops-up since they go internally first. But hey, experience is experience in my book. They said my resume was sent to the unit manager and I should hear back from the unit secretary about the actual unit interview. And I received an email right after the interview to send in my references. So fingers crossed to continue with the hiring process. (:

A good rule of thumb is to try NOT to read too much into why a job listing may have been taken down. There's a ton of reasons why that job listing may have been pulled, and suprisingly few have to do with a specific applicant. Just focus on the status of your application and what is happening with you.

Good luck in your job hunt.

Definitely doesn't mean anything. I was in the same exact scenario in January, the posting was gone before I interviewed (I know this because when I got the interview I went back to make sure I knew which shift they were hiring for and the posting was gone... oops). They still met with me and it apparently went well, because I start at the hospital two weeks from Monday. Good luck at your interview, sending well wishes!

Thank you all! Ugh it's been a week now. Just twiddling my thumbs waiting patiently over here... I might ask about my status tomorrow or Monday. I don't know if that's a good idea or not.

Same thing happened to me just this week. I had applied to a position online. Got an email stating they wanted to do a phone interview. AFter the interview on the phone, I happened to notice the job posting was gone.

I'm not too concerned about it. I figured they had received enough applicants to keep them busy and pulled it to not overwhelm themselves with applications. figured if the 'right' candidate wasn't among those who had sent in the app, they would repost it. So far its still not back up.

I'm not looking at it as good or bad. well, I guess it is good for me that I had seen the posting before it was pulled and I applied. I had my interview. Now its a waiting game. The person conducting the interview had said she'd send my info along to the NM of that facility and I should hear from her in a couple of days.

Good luck to you! Let me know how it goes. I'm still waiting. I guess Monday I will email and ask about my application status.

Sat and twiddled my thumbs from Tuesday on. Figured yesterday I'd touch base with the HR person who I interviewed with. Before I could do that, yesterday I got a phone call from the HR dept stating that the NM wanted to schedule an in-person interview with me. That happens Monday! Fingers crossed!

Oh, and the posting is still not there. Guess they pulled it very soon beore/after I got my phone interview.

Hope you hear soon.

Thanks everyone! Welp, I guess I need to continue the search. Contacted HR today and she said the hiring manager is holding due to 3 experienced nurses applying for the position. Ugh. It's frustrating. I need experience but how am I going to get it?
