Hating on hospital chains...

Nurses Job Hunt

How many of you hate 'em? I know I do! Many a time have I gone to a hospital's website to find that they are associated with the other four hospitals I already applied to in the same area, but got turned down from because I am graduating this year with my BSN and don't have experience. All of that previous application history is already on file with the company, making me look desperate and probably unattractive to HR...

Wouldn't it be nice if every job application was a clean slate, and the HR department at that hospital couldn't see the applications you've put in for other hospitals in the system?

Ugh. If only...

Are any of the rest of you running into problems with lack of new graduate jobs to apply to because of hospital chains? One chain I came across had three new graduate openings listed by geographical market. Each market covered up to five hospitals. How is that even logical to rule out a person from five hospitals with one application? I don't know exactly what I was expecting from the new graduate RN job hunt, but this isn't it. :sniff:

I'm in the SAME boat. It is ridiculous and I am so frustrated. And they all say, "keep applying"... I have interview after interview and then they say No. How can we keep applying if it's in their system that they turned us down once already?

Yeah, it's a little stupid. I have one chain I have decided to pester into submission until they give me an interview. I have been turned down from several jobs there, but every time I get a rejection I apply to a different position, get a rejection, apply to a different position... they are going to have to interview me one day so I stop annoying their HR department. :)

Large hospital chains/ networks have demonstrated the most unforgiving attitude towards new grads to date... I can relate.... over 1.5 years sending applications and paperwork daily (anywhere from 4- 14 hours a day). "Cant get RN experience without a job....cant begin one's career as an RN without experience"......... It really pains me to consider leaving nursing as a profession
