"1-2 years experience" required

I have been a nurse for 3 years, moving to a critical care unit but eventually looking to join the critical care float pool at my hospital. The positions for that pool stated "1-2 years ICU experience required." How do you interpret "1-2 years" of experience?

Would the minimum be one year, or two years? If it's one year, why not just put one year required? It seems confusing.

I read that as "we would prefer at least two years of experience but might consider applicants with one year as well if you are lucky." I agree that they should just put the minimum amount of experience required!

Honestly, I just apply, unless they have REQUIRED in caps or bold. The worst that happens is they toss my resume.

OK - I am fluent in "HR speak"

This means that if you have 12 months of full time experience in a very high level ICU, you are good - if you have been working in a less intense environment, you will need more experience. For instance, if you only deal with ventilator dependent patients once a month, rarely have to titrate vaso-active drips and have never dealt with any type of VAD..... you will need 2 years of experience.
