I interviewed for a job 4 weeks ago, was told I had the job that I just had to wait for the req# of another position to be posted and to get a salary quote. I called last week when that didn't happen and was told that my references had been checked, but that the req# still hadn't posted so I couldn't get a salary quote but that he still wanted me on board. I told the manager that I had applied for another req# and was told it was day shift, not night shift like I wanted. However he called me back and asked if I would mind doing my orientation on day shift, then he;d be able to put me on night shift. I of course said yes. This was last monday, its now thursday. Still no official offer of the job, which is the salary quote from HR. I call and leave voicemails, but don't get a call back. Should I give this more time or give up? If I give up I also give up a chance to go to the University of Kentucky's RN-BSN program as this job is at a hospital affiliated with UK and tuition is waived for up to 8 credits. This is the first real nibble I've had since I started looking for an RN position in Feb, 3 months before graduation from my ADN program. I can also now schedule my NCLEX exam and really should be worrying about that, not getting a job.

I am about ready to say the heck with it and apply for NICU jobs in Indiana, even though I'll have to wait until I take and pass the NCLEX to apply for licensure in that state now.

I am just so discouraged right now.

dont put all your eggs in one basket. apply for other jobs

:crying2: The problem is, I've applied and applied.....everywhere. Out of state is on hold until I take and pass my boards now due to licensure. What's really frustrating is this interview went very well, I've been told he wants to bring me on board....so what is the hold up? :banghead:

I would keep calling HR, say you'd like to know the status of your application.

My last job I had to keep calling, finally she called me back with an offer and once I started at the hospital I learned that this recruiter was really slow and bad about calling people back.

So just keep on them.

Not only am I calling, but I applied for night shift positions that opened up. Don't know if its the req# he's been waiting for, but I'm not taking any chances.....I put in for all three :-)
