RN license but moving to another state upon graduation

Hi everyone!

I am a nursing student, living in California, but I plan on moving with my family to Oregon upon my graduation. How would that work in terms of getting my RN license? Can I apply to the license in Oregon while living in CA? I'm not very well-versed on the process. What would the best process look like? Thank you for any help in advance!

Do you anticipate ever returning to CA or do you plan to stay in OR forever? That would determine my choice for my initial license.

Deleted, duplicate.

Yes, you can apply for initial licensure in any state. If you know that you will not be working in California after graduation, there is no need to apply for licensure there, and the endorse your license to Oregon.

You should be able to find all the information you need on the Oregon BON website.

I just went through this, too. I moved to Missouri right after graduation. If you plan on working in Oregon, get your license in Oregon. AVOID CALIFORNIA BRN any way you can is ultimately my best advice. I thought it would be easier to get my license in California since our schools automatically send transcripts to CA BRN and then I would get my licensed endorsed in Missouri. Wrong wrong wrong. California BRN is notorious for taking FOREVER, and they lose applications (or whatever it is that they do with them) all.the.time. I had to withdraw my application in California and start the process all over in Missouri. So here I am, six months post-graduation and still waiting for my ATT. So annoying. I should have applied directly to Missouri BRN and figured out the process early on, which seemed daunting at first for out of state graduates but it was very easy. I hand delivered my application in Missouri to avoid a "lost" application.

Thank you everyone for the responses! They were very helpful! I don't plan on returning to work in CA, btw.
