Nurses Career Support

Hello Fellow Nurses!

I am in desperate need of some with wording for my make-shift resume turned CV... Considering I've only been in practice for 7 months, have no publications, etc I did the best I could turning my resume into the required CV needed to apply for the NELRP.

Anyways, I'm in the process of adding my current (and first) nursing job and need help with wording. If I had time I would go harass the career services office at my old school, but desperate times call for desperate measures!!!

Here's what I've got:

Staff Nurse - Emergency Department, July 2009 - Present

* Efficiently assess and prioritize care of Emergency Department patients in a busy urban level 1 trauma center.

* Collaborate with Physician's Assistants, Residents, and Attendings regarding plan of care.

* Delegation of tasks to Patient Care Technicians.

ANY comments/suggestions greatly appreciated!!!!

Here are some things to get you started:

- Change Physician's Assistants to physician assistants.

- Don't capitalize the job titles of the others that you work with.

- Make sure that your verb forms/tenses are consistent with each other. Change delegation to delegate.

As you gain more experience, make sure that you go back and edit the description. They're probably pretty familiar with what an ER staff nurse does, but things like serving on committees, awards and recognition, triaging, charging, precepting, special skills, etc - those will start to set you apart.

I noticed that you didn't include a statement about nursing care provided by you. I would think that would be important and should be one of the first listed.
